There are some who believe the problem of the Hebrews recipients was they were former Jews and were seeking to return to the Old Law.
This might be the case, but the theme is “hold fast” and “don’t drift away.” The drifting came from 1) apathy and 2) persecution. Why, if they are apathetic or persecuted, would they return to practicing the Old Law (MAYBE, if the Jews were the source of persecution, this might be the case…maybe).
