INTRO

I. Where We’re Headed

A. Invite Elders Up

B. As we’ve been discussing Vision & Mission

a. Elders & I would like 2 take some time 2 share our heart

b. Every yr since I’ve been here we’ve done coffee w/Pastor

1. Where we discuss & share (like a mid-yr state o the church address)

i. Opportunity 2 ask us questions & 4 us 2 share the state o GMCC thus far.

ii. Less formal than the Annual business meeting.

C. What the enemy has meant 4 evil (COVID) God has turned it for the good of GMCC!!

a. We’ve been able 2 continue meeting online/virtually

b. Prayer group, men’s coffee, & tues. night Bible study still functions!!

c. Seeing a steady stream o giving through online, text, & mail in.

d. accomplishing building projects

1. Cafe/foyer

2. Courtyard (Tim can u give us an update?)

3. Roof — obstacles 2 overcome

i. $4,000 turning in2 $10,000 due to rot

Ephesians 4:11–13 ESV

11 And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers, 12 to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, 13 until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ,

A. Paul is describing the our personal goal:

BODY

I. Personal Goal: maturity

A. 3 Things that make a mature saint (Jesus Follower):

a. Ministering Outward = “work o the ministry”

1. GMCC describes as touching poor/reaching lost

i. Areas o Need

-Food Pantry (we need leaders)

-Green Mountain Christian Center

b. Ministering Inward = “building up the body”

1. building up is discipling

2. The Body is the primary metaphor the authors o scripture use 2 describe the community o jesus followers

i. GMCC describes ministering inward as building community & training leaders

3. This also includes

i. classroom ministries

ii. Youth Group

iii. maintenance

c. Unity of Faith & Knowing Jesus

1. unity o faith = common & agreed on doctrine

2. knowing Jesus = fellowship w/Jesus to get to know him

i. GMCC describes this point as Encountering God

-It’s where we get on board w/Jesus

II. This Growth Goal is Everyone’s Goal (at least it aught to be)

A. We must (all, then) be personally growing (in2 this description o maturity &... )

a. Cannot function as a church unless we r all growing (take a look:)

Ephesians 4:15–16 ESV

15 Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ, 16 from whom the whole body, joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped, when each part is working properly, makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love.

1. We must all be growing into each other & into Christ

i. Impossible to grow in2 ea. other alone.

-lone soldiers don’t win wars

*Their effectiveness is limited at best

-Armies win wars

*Its an army that’s the unstoppable force

2. this kind o growth happens in & through fellowship

i. fellowship w/ea. other as we fellowship w/Jesus

ii. That means we all need 2b participating in both outward & inward growth
