This has been a crazy week in our country. Ruth Bader Ginsburg died 45 and the republicans are determined to fill her seat with a conservative judge. We are hearing more and more than we may be installed for a constitutional crisis. WIth either 45 not leaving office or contesting the election by way of the Supreme Court. Pundits are nervous and concerned. I am convince that through all this craziness it still gon be alright. We may have to get in some good trouble as John Lewis said but we gon be all right. The enemy is trying to make us hopeless. We know Hopelessness is the enemy of Justice. We must have a since of determination to keep fighting, keep pushing.
We all need Justice , We all need mercy we all need unmerited grace.
We have been following Joseph since the beginning of the month. Each week we see how God was with him. From his dream to the fulfillment of his dream it would take 37 years. It was 17 years ago his brothers came looking for grain and the events that unfold. It in chapter 50 we see his brothers come and bow down to him in fear for there life. 7 Behold, we were binding sheaves in the field, and behold, my sheaf arose and stood upright. And behold, your sheaves gathered around it and bowed down to my sheaf. (Ge 37:7).
God has a way of making your dreams come true
18 His brothers also came and fell down before him and said, “Behold, we are your servants.” (Ge 50:17–18). Wheaton, IL: Crossway Bibles.
God will help you see his blessing on your life
20 As for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good, to bring it about that many people should be kept alive, as they are today. (2016). (Ge 50:20). Wheaton, IL: Crossway Bibles.
Joseph had been through a whole lot in these 37 years. His father is now dead. He spent 20 years away from his father and brothers and sister. He had been sold in to slavery. Locked in prison. Saw 7 years of prosperity as second in command then 7 years administering during the famine. He was able to give pharoah a system that would make every person pay tribute to Pharaoh by giving him 1/5 of all there increase. I had gotten married and had two sons. He had become wealthy in his own right. He saw his father bless his sons Ephraim and Manasseh.
The good thing is he was able to spend the last 17 years with his father. I have learn that life may not take all the turns you wrote out but if God is with you you gon be alright.
God will teach you how to show mercy towards others
21 So do not fear; I will provide for you and your little ones.” Thus he comforted them and spoke kindly to them. (Ge 50:21).
Joseph could have become bitter. Instead he showed better. Bitterness must have the right kind of soil in order to take root in the soul. When offenses come our way (and they most certainly will), the sweet soil of humble faith and surrender will germinate godly responses that blossom into the fruit of the Spirit or the sour soil of proud unbelief and selfishness will germinate negative thoughts and emotions that blossom into destructive, poisonous plants of the flesh. Some who suffer the same or even more devastating offense never become bitter yet others spew bitterness at the slightest offense. Joseph showed mercy on his brothers. He allowed forgiveness to show up in his dealings. We have to learn to allow forgiveness to show up in our lives.
