We Are Finishing Out “My Faith pleases God”
I need to know if anyone knows the key verce by now, I mean its been 4 weeks now so we must have a few kids that know it.
6 And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.
Man and what an amazing few weeks its been. I hope that by now you have a better understanding of Faith and how it works in our life. So lets just recap what we have learned so Faith in this “My Faith Please God”
wk 1 we talked about Jairus and asked the question “What is Faith?”
wk2 we asked the next logical question “Where does Faith Come from”
Wk3 Pastor Kent walked about “Faith without work” and how it’s important to act out are Faith
So today i hope your ready ,because we are going to look at a story in the bible that hopefully by the end of it will truly show you what faith can do in your life
5 When he had entered Capernaum, a centurion came forward to him, appealing to him, 6 “Lord, my servant is lying paralyzed at home, suffering terribly.” 7 And he said to him, “I will come and heal him.” 8 But the centurion replied, “Lord, I am not worthy to have you come under my roof, but only say the word, and my servant will be healed. 9 For I too am a man under authority, with soldiers under me. And I say to one, ‘Go,’ and he goes, and to another, ‘Come,’ and he comes, and to my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.” 10 When Jesus heard this, he marveled and said to those who followed him, “Truly, I tell you, with no one in Israel have I found such faith.
FAITH SOMETIMES DOES NOT MAKE SINCE
FAITH SOMETIMES DOES NOT MAKE SINCE
Not sure if y’all caught what i just read but lets read that one more time together.
7 And he said to him, “I will come and heal him.” 8 But the centurion replied, “Lord, I am not worthy to have you come under my roof, but only say the word, and my servant will be healed.
Now I know about you but this just dose not make since. The Roman commander at this point went out of his way to go get Jesus. This solider had a problem, heard Jesus was in town, he know that this man was going around healing people with all kinds of things so he believed that Jesus could heal his servant. And it worked Jesus said “ I will come and heal him”
Sometimes Faith does not make since guys. Just like this Roman commander, sometimes the things that we put are Faith in are just not going to make since. If fact let me the be the first to inform you guys that Faith sometimes will leave you looking silly.
7 for we walk by faith, not by sight.
Have you ever walked around your house without looking. You kind of look silly! I mean come on, I CAN SEE WHERE IM GOING, but this is how the bible says we should walk. Now I’m not saying you need to walk around never seeing or looking where you are going but what I am saying to you is that we should not be living by the things we see going on around us.
Here one that i struggled with will i was your age “no one wants to be my friends, ill never have friends” that’s what i was seeing around me. I tired so desperately to fit in as a kid, so i would do things or let what i say around me determine how i lived. Maybe some of y’all have the same problems
I have no friends
I’m to young
I’m not cool enough
All my friends at school are doing it
See all of these things are things that we could end up believing instead of having Faith, and walking in that Faith. The Roman Commander had no reason to believe that just the wold of Jesus would be enough to heal his servant.( he could not see his words, the could see Jesus lay hand on the servant ) I bet after he told Jesus not to come to his house he kinda looked a little silly.
Words vs Action illustration
Tell me witch can you see? My words that I’m speaking right now or my actions? obviously my words are impossible to actually see, but my actions are something you can see.
That is what walking by faith kind of looks like. That what the Roman solider was doing
He was walking by Faith and not by sight in that moment.
WHEN DOING IT IN FAITH, IT’S OK TO LOOK A LITTLE SILLY
WHEN DOING IT IN FAITH, IT’S OK TO LOOK A LITTLE SILLY
FAITH CAN DO THE IMPOSSIBLE
FAITH CAN DO THE IMPOSSIBLE
So here we are looking at this Roman Solider with this amazing faith that Jesus was impressed with. And at the end of this encounter with Jesus, Jesus say this few words that got my thinking
13 And to the centurion Jesus said, “Go; let it be done for you as you have believed.” And the servant was healed at that very moment.
AS YOU HAVE BELIEVED
AS YOU HAVE BELIEVED
Those word show me two things that are powerful thoughts and i want y’all to get today.
My faith shapes the world i live in
Faith can do the impossible
This man changed the life of his servants with the Faith that he had. Jesus never said “go your servant is healed”, or “servant of this Roman Solider be healed” all he said was go, what you have believed in your heart is done.
When we believe in are hearts and trust the God can do it, it shapes and changes the world that we live in. IT NOT SOME SUPER POWER, OR SOMETHING WE CAN US TO MANIPULATE THINGS. but it can be used to change things in are life that is bring us hurt or pain or for things good.
my parents are fighting
i don’t have any friends at school
someone i know is hurting
etc
