I. Jesus is God (John 1:1-3).

A. Jesus is called “The Word.” This means He is the manifestation of God to the world.
B. He was with God in the beginning.
— How can Jesus be with God and be God?
— Jesus can be God and with God because God is triune. John 17:12 gives a clear understanding of how this is possible. As we are one body in Christ, we are many members. So as God is one God, He is three persons.
C. Jesus created everything.
— He was not created as some false teachers teach. He is the Creator.
— Remember on Sunday when we talked about Genesis 1. Jesus did that.

II. Jesus is the Light of the World (John 1:4-14).

A. The light that Jesus gives could not and cannot be stopped by opposing forces (John 1:4-5).
B. John the Baptist testified of Jesus (John 1:6-8).
— The purpose of his testimony was so that everyone would believe on Jesus.
C. Jesus was rejected by His own (John 1:9-11).
D. Even though Jesus was rejected by some, He was received by others, and they positionally became the children of God (John 1:12-14).

III. Jesus is the Giver of Grace (John 1:15-17).

A. John testified that Jesus always existed (John 1:15).
B. We have all been given grace from the abundant grace that Jesus gives (John 1:16).

IV. Jesus is the Revealer of God the Father (John 1:18).

A. Nobody has ever seen God physically.
B. Jesus came to reveal God the Father to us.
