When I first began preaching through Revelation a few weeks ago, I shared that the word “Revelation”, not revelations, was like pulling back the curtain to show what was behind.
Think about a movie premier or a play.
You would have several Key figures involved.
The same thing is true as the Revelation unfolds.
You have The author: John, The audience: The Seven Churches, The Main Character: The Triune God, The Accolades: Jesus Christ, and today we will look at Plot of the Revelation.
Revelation 1:7–8 HCSB
7 Look! He is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see Him, including those who pierced Him. And all the families of the earth will mourn over Him. This is certain. Amen. 8 “I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “the One who is, who was, and who is coming, the Almighty.”

Christ is on the way

Revelation 1:7 HCSB
7 Look! He is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see Him, including those who pierced Him. And all the families of the earth will mourn over Him. This is certain. Amen.
The Word Behold! or Look! we might say stop and check it out! This deserves your attention.
Stop and investigate this. This is important.
He IS Coming.
Present tense. Doesn’t mean that He’s 30 minutes out and stuck in heavenly traffic. No, His coming is CERTAIN! It’s not a might come, or a will come, but IS COMING!
The word for coming is related to Expected. JTB sent to Jesus and asked if he was the expected one. Are you the one that we have heard about for hundreds of years who is coming. That was the first coming.
But its the same expectant language years. No matter how bleak it gets. No matter how much time has passed. No matter what the scoffers say. HE IS COMING!

Christ will Come in Glory

Revelation 1:7 HCSB
7 Look! He is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see Him, including those who pierced Him. And all the families of the earth will mourn over Him. This is certain. Amen.
I have taught you before that glory can be translated as heaviness or weightiness.
I mentioned earlier that Behold in our vernacular would be “check it out.”
Many times I’ve said that one of the ways of looking at the word “glory” would be “heavy” and I think of some hippy saying “heavy dude”
Clouds are associated with God’s glory throughout the Bible.
The cloud and the pillar of fire.
Moses on Sinai
The Presence of the Lord in the Tabernacle and later in the temple.
Jesus went to heaven in the clouds
and He’s coming back with the clouds.
Matthew 24:30 HCSB
30 “Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky, and then all the peoples of the earth will mourn; and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.

Christ will be Visible

Revelation 1:7 HCSB
7 Look! He is coming with the clouds, and every eye will see Him, including those who pierced Him. And all the families of the earth will mourn over Him. This is certain. Amen.
Please notice that John emphasizes two groups of people who are to be included in the “every eye” and they are both negative.
Those who pierced him.
All the families of the earth will mourn.
families- people groups, tribes, grow up with
Many people see this as the Jews who instigated the crucifixion and the Gentile world as well.
Here is what I know for sure. When it comes right down to it, it was MY sin that nailed him there.
However this emphasizes the vast majority of unrepentant people when Christ comes again. While the Bible teaches that Israel will come to faith in Christ, the Gentile “mourning” will be largely the agony of realizing that the Christ they rejected is in fact the King of Kings and Lord of Lords.

Christ will be Validated

Revelation 1:8 HCSB
8 “I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “the One who is, who was, and who is coming, the Almighty.”
By this I mean God the Father is putting His stamp of authenticity on the coming of Christ.
Have you ever been somewhere and the people that told you to check it out said. “Tell them I sent you.” They are attaching your name to theirs. God is saying this about Jesus.
He declares that Jesus IS coming and validates it with His own Name and Credentials.
God is all in all and no one or no thing can hinder His Will.
Alpha and Omega- The A-Z The Beginning and the End. No time that He was Not and No Time That He will Not Be. He is the God who is always everywhere and never at one single place.
He spans time because He created it. He rules the world, because He created it. He is the Judge Jury and Executioner of every unrepentant soul lost in their sin because He created us.
And He is redeems those in Christ because he loves us.
Christ has the Father’s “Good Housekeeping” seal of approval.
