Reign forever!

God is the eternal God (El Olam) who reigns forever. This morning we are looking at his rule, reign, authority and what we are commanded to do.
The proclamation (Rev11:15-17; Dan4:3)
Revelation 11:15–16 NASB95
15 Then the seventh angel sounded; and there were loud voices in heaven, saying, The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of His Christ; and He will reign forever and ever.” 16 And the twenty-four elders, who sit on their thrones before God, fell on their faces and worshiped God,
Revelation 11:17 NASB95
17 saying, We give You thanks, O Lord God, the Almighty, who are and who were, because You have taken Your great power and have begun to reign.
Notice they: Worshiped (v.16), and they gave thanks (v.17)
Look how announced in Daniel
Daniel 4:3 NASB95
3 “How great are His signs And how mighty are His wonders! His kingdom is an everlasting kingdom And His dominion is from generation to generation.
Great signs, mighty wonders, everlasting kingdom!
The eternal nature (Ps47:8; Exo15:18; Ps145:13)
Psalm 47:8 NASB95
8 God reigns over the nations, God sits on His holy throne.
Exo15:18 says “The Lord shall reign forever and ever
ps145:13 says It is an everlasting kingdom that endures through all generations.
The appointment (Ps110:4)
Psalm 110:4 NASB95
4 The Lord has sworn and will not change His mind, “You are a priest forever According to the order of Melchizedek.”
Our mighty God, our king of kings, is also our High Priest forever in the order of Melchizedek
The authority (Heb5:10; Mt28:18)
Called as High priest in Heb5:10, he is he author of our eternal salvation Heb5:9 The one who has all authority.
Matthew 28:18 NASB95
18 And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.
(Transition) this High Priest who is given all authority and assumes the role as King of Kings, the Lord of Lords is what we are looking at this morning as we try to gain a deeper understanding of our Mighty God so we can have a closer walk with Him and live a life that is pleasing to Him through faith.

The King of Kings!

There have been others called king of kings, but none are greater then the great I AM (Yahweh), the King of Kings.
Greater than the king of kings of the world (Dan2:37; Eze26:7)
Daniel said “O King you are a king of kings”
Ezekiel said “Nebuchadnezzer you are king of kings.
Wiser than all other kings (1Kng10:23; 2Chr9:23)
King Solomon surpassed all the kings in riches and wisdom according to (1Kng10:23)
Other kings sought Solomon and his wisdom that God gave him is in short what it says in (2Chr9:23).
The king of kings; Lord of lord is truth (Jn14:6) the giver of wisdom (1Kn10:23; Jm1:5;) for all wisdom comes from above (Jm3:17, it is pure, peaceable, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit!
(Transition) it is not like any other name, let me show you.
Different, unique from any other king (Act17:7; 1Tim6:11-16; Rev1:5)
He is more than just another king as noted in (Act17:7) that turns the world upside down. He is greater!
He is the one we confess in the sight of God who gives all life to all things, who is the only blessed and only Potentate the King of kings and Lord of Lords (1Tim6:11-16)
He is the firstborn of the dead, ruler over the kings of the earth (Rev1:5)
Described further (Rev19:11-16)
I want us to look at this other passage now.
Revelation 19:11–12 NASB95
11 And I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse, and He who sat on it is called Faithful and True, and in righteousness He judges and wages war. 12 His eyes are a flame of fire, and on His head are many diadems; and He has a name written on Him which no one knows except Himself.
Revelation 19:13–14 NASB95
13 He is clothed with a robe dipped in blood, and His name is called The Word of God. 14 And the armies which are in heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and clean, were following Him on white horses.
Revelation 19:15–16 NASB95
15 From His mouth comes a sharp sword, so that with it He may strike down the nations, and He will rule them with a rod of iron; and He treads the wine press of the fierce wrath of God, the Almighty. 16 And on His robe and on His thigh He has a name written, “KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.”
He is faithful and true and judges in righteousness (v.11)
His name is called the Word of God (v.13)
He is the King of Kings, Lord of Lords (v.16)
He is the name in which man must be saved (Act4:12)
(below not on screen; just read the verse)
Acts 4:12 NLT
12 There is salvation in no one else! God has given no other name under heaven by which we must be saved.”
No one else, no other name, no other way!
He is a different king, greater king, He is the king of righteousness, he is above every other king.
He was not meant to have His kingdom here (Jn18:36)
John 18:36 NASB95
36 Jesus answered, “My kingdom is not of this world. If My kingdom were of this world, then My servants would be fighting so that I would not be handed over to the Jews; but as it is, My kingdom is not of this realm.”
He is the king of kings that shows no partiality (Deu10:17)
Deuteronomy 10:17 NASB95
17 “For the Lord your God is the God of gods and the Lord of lords, the great, the mighty, and the awesome God who does not show partiality nor take a bribe.
Question: how is our King described here in (Deu10:17)?
God of gods, Lord of lords, great, mighty, awesome who does not show partiality.
(Transition): now that we have a definition and description of the king of kings, now what are we to do, what is the application from this wisdom that comes from above that we hold in our hands.

What must we do?

May we look at a couple of passages that cover the king of kings and what we should do, how we should apply the teachings.
We need to hear and speak with boldness (Act4:23-31)
Acts 4:23–24 NASB95
23 When they had been released, they went to their own companions and reported all that the chief priests and the elders had said to them. 24 And when they heard this, they lifted their voices to God with one accord and said, “O Lord, it is You who made the heaven and the earth and the sea, and all that is in them,
Acts 4:25–26 NASB95
25 who by the Holy Spirit, through the mouth of our father David Your servant, said, Why did the Gentiles rage, And the peoples devise futile things? 26 The kings of the earth took their stand, And the rulers were gathered together Against the Lord and against His Christ.’
Acts 4:27–28 NASB95
27 “For truly in this city there were gathered together against Your holy servant Jesus, whom You anointed, both Herod and Pontius Pilate, along with the Gentiles and the peoples of Israel, 28 to do whatever Your hand and Your purpose predestined to occur.
Acts 4:29–30 NASB95
29 “And now, Lord, take note of their threats, and grant that Your bond-servants may speak Your word with all confidence, 30 while You extend Your hand to heal, and signs and wonders take place through the name of Your holy servant Jesus.”
Acts 4:31 NASB95
31 And when they had prayed, the place where they had gathered together was shaken, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak the word of God with boldness.
May this be our thoughts our commitment, our prayer that it results in God’s boldness through God’s Spirit given to God’s people who know the King of kings, Lord of lords and have obeyed His commands
We need to keep the commandment without stain or reproach (1Tim6:13-16)
1 Timothy 6:13–14 NASB95
13 I charge you in the presence of God, who gives life to all things, and of Christ Jesus, who testified the good confession before Pontius Pilate, 14 that you keep the commandment without stain or reproach until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ,
1 Timothy 6:15–16 NASB95
15 which He will bring about at the proper time—He who is the blessed and only Sovereign, the King of kings and Lord of lords, 16 who alone possesses immortality and dwells in unapproachable light, whom no man has seen or can see. To Him be honor and eternal dominion! Amen.
So, here is some application:
Keep His commandment (v.14); without stain or reproach
Give him Honor! for Honor He deserves as the Lord of Lords, King of kings (vv. 15-16)
We are to love one another!
(invitation: Jn13_34 Love one another) love one another as Christ loved us (expand greatly) invitation (song) (Prayer)
