A crucial question that we routinely need to be asking ourselves is: “What am I living for?” Because our honest answer to that question helps explain everything there is to know about us. For Paul, his answer was clear. Ever since his encounter with Christ on the outskirts of Damascus, Christ had come to define his reason for living. In our text we'll see Paul succinctly summarize for us his value system in a simple yet profound equation: “To live = Christ; therefore, to die = gain."
