The Month of Prayer (2)
Notes
Transcript
I want to continue this morning with the subject of prayer.
Have you been praying this month?
Are you keeping a journal of your prayer time with God?
There are many different types of prayer and many different reasons to pray, and we are going to discuss a few more of them today.
The Prayer of Intercession
The Prayer of Intercession
For this reason we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; that you may walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, pleasing to all, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God, strengthened with all might according to His glorious power, enduring everything with perseverance and patience joyfully, giving thanks to the Father, who has enabled us to be partakers in the inheritance of the saints in light.
Intercessory prayer is when we spend time with God.
Not just a little 10-20 min prayer, but a time that has put all other things aside and God is the only one in the room for some time.
It is a time that is intended to get to know God’s heart about a situation.
When you find an intercessor, you will find a person that loves to get alone with God and desires to know how God sees the situation.
Without the time spent with God, we cannot know who He is, or how He thinks.
Do you want to know the will of God for your life?
Do you want to know what God thinks about your situation?
Do you want to know the heart of God?
Then get in a closet and pray until you receive a release to move!
A lot of times we pray just enough to say we prayed.
We need to spend time with the Lord, especially in these last days!
How is your prayer life?
Are you are repeater or a seeker?
Do you just regurgitate one prayer every time your pray or do you pray as if you are actually talking to God?
What if you said the same thing to everybody you come in contact with each day?
“Hey, how are you doing today?”
“Nice day out today sin’t it?”
“Have a good day!”
What if this was the extent of your conversation to everyone and even to the same people you meet every day.
You probably wouldn’t know much about them, would you?
They wouldn’t know much about you either.
Intercessory prayer is a prayer that is used to fight against the enemy to tear down strongholds and build up faith.
Some would say that; “I can’t pray that long!”
I can give you a list of people and subjects that if you were to pray for each one of them and their circumstance, you would be praying half the day.
This is the importance of keeping a journal of prayers needed and answered.
Mention the prayer wall on app.

When the day of Pentecost had come, they were all together in one place.
One of the most important cooperate prayer meetings in history.
They were all together in one place; in one mind; and in one accord!
This means that they were all there for the same purpose!
They all were obeying Jesus who told them to stay there until God the Father sends the Holy Spirit.
This why cooperate prayer is so important.
If we come together to pray for the same reason, we will see miracles and wonders happen.
They continued steadfastly in the apostles’ teaching and fellowship, in the breaking of bread and in the prayers. Fear came to every soul. And many wonders and signs were done through the apostles. All who believed were together and had all things in common.
This verse is later on after the Holy Spirit had come, but they were still getting together to fellowship and seek after the Lord.
Cooperate prayer brings about an attention that shows others and the father in heaven that we are serious about Him and what He wants us to do!
Does anybody know that there was a national called prayer meeting in DC the last weekend of September?

We must come together as the church to pray and call on the name of the Lord and repent for our apathy towards Him.
God knows that if we do not get back to prayer, we see the destruction of this country, the church, and your families!
Get together and pray!
We do not have to have a prayer meeting here, but you can gather your family together and pray for your house hold.
Young people, you should be praying for your future path in the Lord and your future spouse!
Don’t make those “knee-jerk” decisions that could alter your life without consulting God first!
We need to get back to praying together and calling on the name of God like they did in the old days.
We don’t have to wait for turmoil to come to our country before we get together to pray.
We don’t have to wait for our children to be in jail with no other way out to pray for them.
We don’t have to get to the place that our church is about to go under before we get on our knees before the almighty God and THEN we ask Him for His help!
Why do we wait before we pray?!?
Private Prayer

Then there is the private prayer life!
But you, when you pray, enter your closet, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly.
Why is it important to have a private prayer life?
This is the prayer life that in only seen by God!
If you look back at verse 5, Jesus is warning us about praying with fancy words so that everyone can hear us and marvel at our words.
Jesus was telling them that if you are praying for that kind of recognition, then you have received your reward at that moment.
God wants to hear our hearts!
When we pray in the closet, we are getting alone with God and having an intimate conversation with Him.
Those are the times that He wants from us.
When your pray in private, you are more likely to share from your heart the truths that are on your mind.
Plus, when we get alone with God, He will share with us some things that we need and cannot get in any other setting.
Jesus had private time with His Father in heaven as well.
When He sent the crowds away, He went up into a mountain by Himself to pray. And when evening came, He was there alone.
Jesus knew how important it was to stay in communion with the Father!
What do you think would have happened if Jesus did not spend the time that He did in private prayer?
People probably would have not been healed, delivered, or set free from sin.
We must recharge daily!
Get back in the closet and alone with God and seek after His direction again.
When is the last time you got alone with God?
