Intro:

- We’re going to be spending the next few weeks talking about masks
-I’m sure we’re all sick of masks right?
After this year, no one is ever going to wear any mask again.
Apart from corona, why do people wear masks?
Maybe to hide their true selves from people? They’re ashamed
Maybe to get away with something
maybe just to fit in with other people and be part of the crowd..or maybe to get away from the crowd
Are you wearing a mask tonight?
Maybe not a literal mask, but a figurative one?
Maybe you don’t like who are, so you’re wearing a mask to disguise yourself
You know what hurts me? When someone says “i’m fine” when i know they are not fine. This is a mask we wear.
WE say “good” when our world is crumbling around us.
Today is the day to take off your mask! Unless youre indoors or within 6 feet of someone.

God Knows our Path

O LORD, you have searched me and known me!

2  You know when I sit down and when I rise up;

you discern my thoughts from afar.

3  You search out my path and my lying down

and are acquainted with all my ways.

4  Even before a word is on my tongue,

behold, O LORD, you know it altogether.

5  You hem me in, behind and before,

and lay your hand upon me.

6  Such knowledge is too wonderful for me;

it is high; I cannot attain it.

He searches and knows us
HE searches our path(v.3)
He searches our places of rest (v.3)
he knows us
HE discerens our thoughts
Acquainted with all our ways
Knows the “words on our tongues” (v.4)
What does this mean?
God knows everything about you
You can’t hide from God
HE knows our thoughts (if he knows what we’re going to say)

God knows our Position

7  Where shall I go from your Spirit?

Or where shall I flee from your presence?

8  If I ascend to heaven, you are there!

If I make my bed in Sheol, you are there!

9  If I take the wings of the morning

and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea,

10  even there your hand shall lead me,

and your right hand shall hold me.

11  If I say, “Surely the darkness shall cover me,

and the light about me be night,”

12  even the darkness is not dark to you;

the night is bright as the day,

for darkness is as light with you.

We can’t go anywhere away from God
This is a comforting, but maybe off putting thought.
We can’t hide from God. What do you think of that? Don’t you thnk we try to do this sometimes?
Think of Jonah

God created our Person

For you formed my inward parts;

you knitted me together in my mother’s womb.

14  I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.

Wonderful are your works;

my soul knows it very well.

15  My frame was not hidden from you,

when I was being made in secret,

intricately woven in the depths of the earth.

16  Your eyes saw my unformed substance;

in your book were written, every one of them,

the days that were formed for me,

when as yet there was none of them.

How ridiculous is it for us to try to fool God.
He created us.
He wrote our lives in His book ( .16)
We can fool others, but we can never fool God
