Effective Prayer

Intro - We need prayer more now than ever but we also need to know how to pray, what to pray, and that prayer of faith is matched with action.

James 5:16–18 AV

Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much. Elias was a man subject to like passions as we are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six months. And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth brought forth her fruit.

Effective - put forth power, operative, to work, valid, binding

Fervent - passionate, heartfelt

Righteous - in a place of favor with God because of Jesus

Ordinary man who knew one man with God is a majority.

Prayed it wouldn’t rain and it didn’t for 3.5 years

Prayed it would rain and it did.

Pray in Faith - BELIEVING Mark 11:24

To a Good Father - Matt 7:7-8, 11

Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.

Pray His Word - John 15:7

If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.

In His Name - John 14:13-14; John 16:23

And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.
