Peace and Purpose - Part 2
Peace and Purpose - Part 2
6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
9 Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.
Last week we looked at the peace that has been offered to us as we live down here on this earth...
There are many causes for concern, care and consternation - yet we see that in and through all of this things that bring apprehension and anxiety, we can live above the circumstances and possess a peace that passes all understanding.
How then can we gain focus in our faith as we endeavor to move forward?
How can we make wise decisions when we are in times like these when the rules of the game keep changing...
Are we doomed to being reactive to the changing circumstances of life?
This morning, we are going to look at what the Lord has given us to do during the challenging times of life - when pressure, problems prevail and when purposes seem to diminish.
Peace and Purposes:
9 Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.
Remember, this was in a time of turmoil - Paul wasn’t teaching them to have peace and how to deal with anxiety because everything in their lives were great - the message was a message of relevance to the needs of the people during that specific time of their lives.

Phil4.9 “Those things...”
Go back to the beginning
Foundation
16 Therefore thus saith the Lord God, Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, A tried stone, a precious corner stone, a sure foundation: He that believeth shall not make haste.
47 Whosoever cometh to me, and heareth my sayings, and doeth them, I will shew you to whom he is like:
48 He is like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock.
49 But he that heareth, and doeth not, is like a man that without a foundation built an house upon the earth; against which the stream did beat vehemently, and immediately it fell; and the ruin of that house was great.
9 For we are labourers together with God: ye are God’s husbandry, ye are God’s building.
10 According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon.
11 For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.
19 Now therefore ye are no more strangers and foreigners, but fellowcitizens with the saints, and of the household of God;
the Lord is the Foundation
It all begins with Him
He is Good - Ps. 106.1 - “…O give thanks unto the Lord; for he is good...”
He is Worthy - Rev.4.11 “Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created”
He is Merciful - Ps. 107.1 - “…For his mercy endureth for ever”
He is Gracious - Jn. 1.14 - “And the Word was made flesh and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the father,) full of grace and truth
He is Our Salvation - Acts 4.12 - “Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved”

19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.
10 For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost.

PEACE and PURPOSE...
The landscape of society may change
The world may be in turmoil -
10 The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.
This abundant life is a life lived on purpose...
There is a cause worth living for!
it was worth the Lord dying for
it was worth the Apostles dying for
it has been worth millions of believers living and dying for over the ages...
Purpose!
There is a cause for our life...
Keep the cause in the forefront of our lives, and it will help us in our daily decisions.
