24 because “All flesh is as grass, And all the glory of man as the flower of the grass. The grass withers, And its flower falls away, 25 But the word of the Lord endures forever.” Now this is the word which by the gospel was preached to you.
Seasons change. It is inevitable. Winter turns to spring. Spring turns to summer. Summer turns to fall. And the process starts over when fall turns to winter. Personally, I love when summer is finally over and the weather cools. There is a feeling in the air and I can tell, fall is coming. The days get shorter and the leaves get prettier. Seasons change, that was part of God’s design. As it is in nature, so it is in the spirit. As Christians, we go through different seasons. There are seasons of rejoicing as well as seasons of sadness. In one congregation, different people can go through various seasons at the same time. What then is our hope with the changing seasons? When Peter wrote his letter to the church, he recounted the words of the Prophet Isaiah, “the grass withers, and its flowers falls away.” Initially that does not sound overly positive. However, Peter explains, though seasons change and life can instantly look and feel different, the Word of God never changes. We have witnessed changes in 2020 that we never would have deemed possible one year ago. However, we have hope in knowing God never changes. Yet, the way to know more about our unchanging God is to spend time in His word. How can we know Him if we do not read about Him? Furthermore, when we get into His word, we will discover the importance of prayer. When we marry prayer with reading the Bible, we unlock a door that leads us deeper into our relationship with God. Then when seasons of life change, as they always do, we will have a renewed hope that God will always be there to help and hear us.
As as the season changed from summer to fall. I am praying for a season of revival to overtake our church. However, we must dedicate ourselves to studying the word and praying. Will you join me in seeking God in this new season?
