Spiritual Authority

Text:

Romans 13:1–5 KJV 1900
1 Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God. 2 Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation. 3 For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same: 4 For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to execute wrath upon him that doeth evil. 5 Wherefore ye must needs be subject, not only for wrath, but also for conscience sake.

Introduction:

God is the ultimate authority figure!
if we do not relate to authority correctly then we will not relate to God correctly.
if you don’t understand authority you won’t understand God and his kingdom.
Spoiled children is the hardest thing God has to deal with.
that is why the devil is fighting true authority and discipline in the home so hard.
that is why the devil is trying to destroy the home and family so bad.
everything that God ordained the devil aims to discredit it, and show you his plan is better, which leads to destruction.
Proverbs 16:25 KJV 1900
25 There is a way that seemeth right unto a man, But the end thereof are the ways of death.

Authority Defined

AUTHORITY. The power or right to perform certain acts without impediment. It is based upon some form of law, whether divine, civil, or moral. Supreme authority is God’s alone (Rom. 13:1), hence all human authority is derived.

Authority is not a side line issue with God it is the issue!!-Lordship
Dictionary of Bible Themes 2012 Jesus Christ, authority of

Jesus Christ, authority of

The right of Jesus Christ to speak and act on his Father’s behalf in forgiving sin, pronouncing judgment and promising eternal life to those who believe in him.

Jesus Christ’s authority underlines his divine status

Jn 8:28 See also Jn 8:58; 14:6; 1Co 1:24; Col 2:10

Confession:
authority is of God
authority is good
authority is my friend
One day every knee shall bow and every tongue shall confess that Jesus Christ is lord
Some will now in this life
Some forcible in the world to come
Point 1

To Reject God Ordained Authority is to Reject God

1 Samuel 8:4–8 KJV 1900
4 Then all the elders of Israel gathered themselves together, and came to Samuel unto Ramah, 5 And said unto him, Behold, thou art old, and thy sons walk not in thy ways: now make us a king to judge us like all the nations. 6 But the thing displeased Samuel, when they said, Give us a king to judge us. And Samuel prayed unto the Lord. 7 And the Lord said unto Samuel, Hearken unto the voice of the people in all that they say unto thee: for they have not rejected thee, but they have rejected me, that I should not reign over them. 8 According to all the works which they have done since the day that I brought them up out of Egypt even unto this day, wherewith they have forsaken me, and served other gods, so do they also unto thee.
John 13:20 KJV 1900
20 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that receiveth whomsoever I send receiveth me; and he that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me.
John 5:23 KJV 1900
23 That all men should honour the Son, even as they honour the Father. He that honoureth not the Son honoureth not the Father which hath sent him.
Point 2

Authorities are ordained by God in the earth

Romans 13:1–7 KJV 1900
6 For for this cause pay ye tribute also: for they are God’s ministers, attending continually upon this very thing. 7 Render therefore to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute is due; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honour to whom honour.
Psalm 75:6 KJV 1900
6 For promotion cometh neither from the east, Nor from the west, nor from the south.
Point 3

God Delegates Spiritual Authority

God rule is administered through his church
His church is made up of people
All people are created equally and God is no respecter of person yet not all men are positioned equally.
God calls and God chooses, we do not call or choose ourselves or position ourselves.
God administers his affairs upon the earth through godly men and women
God has invested his authority in his leaders and his people
Mark 13:34 KJV 1900
34 For the Son of man is as a man taking a far journey, who left his house, and gave authority to his servants, and to every man his work, and commanded the porter to watch.
Luke 9:1–2 KJV 1900
1 Then he called his twelve disciples together, and gave them power and authority over all devils, and to cure diseases. 2 And he sent them to preach the kingdom of God, and to heal the sick.
Point 4

There is a illegitimate kingdom of power in the earth initiated by satan’s rebellion

Our job is to bring everything under the dominion of God’s authority
Luke 4:18–19 KJV 1900
18 The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, 19 To preach the acceptable year of the Lord.
1 John 3:8 KJV 1900
8 He that committeth sin is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.
He expects the church to enforce his kingdom with the authority and power
Luke 10:16–19 KJV 1900
16 He that heareth you heareth me; and he that despiseth you despiseth me; and he that despiseth me despiseth him that sent me. 17 And the seventy returned again with joy, saying, Lord, even the devils are subject unto us through thy name. 18 And he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven. 19 Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.

Closing: confession that i am who God say i am

Matthew 28:18–20 KJV 1900
18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. 19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: 20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.
I am a disciple of Jesus the Christ, I Have been given authority to release his kingdom in this earth by declaring whats not permitted in heaven is illegal in the earth
What is happening in heaven is released in the earth
I am an ambassador of Christ, and i carry out his will.
