Praising God In Being Upright

Read Psalm 33:1-5, “Shout for joy in the LORD, O you righteous!
Praise befits the upright.
2  Give thanks to the LORD with the lyre;
make melody to him with the harp of ten strings!
3  Sing to him a new song;
play skillfully on the strings, with loud shouts.
4  For the word of the LORD is upright,
and all his work is done in faithfulness.
5  He loves righteousness and justice;
the earth is full of the steadfast love of the LORD.
God’s ways are seen by those who are godly. The ways of God are seen and acknowledged as right, as true by those who are upright. There isn’t anything that God does that is not right, or upright. For those who are walking in upright ways, it befits their lives to shout to God for joy and to worship Him and to praise him . Let’s contemplate the fact that - praise befits the upright. It is something that belongs to them
There is also a nature experience here. The word of God, is upright, here the writer of the Psalm states. What is it that purifies and makes downcast, and sinners right with God? It is the word of God. His word, has the power to transform. It imparts upright thought, and upright volition and upright disposition in our lives. It causes us to bear it. To bear the nature of His word. To be freed in the word of God, to live in truth, to live upright lives.

Seeing With God’s View

Read Psalm 33:6-12, “
By the word of the LORD the heavens were made,
and by the breath of his mouth all their host.
7  He gathers the waters of the sea as a heap;
he puts the deeps in storehouses.
8  Let all the earth fear the LORD;
let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him!
9  For he spoke, and it came to be;
he commanded, and it stood firm.
10  The LORD brings the counsel of the nations to nothing;
he frustrates the plans of the peoples.
11  The counsel of the LORD stands forever,
the plans of his heart to all generations.
12  Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD,
the people whom he has chosen as his heritage!
God is above all things. The writer of the Psalm here explains that the best place the world can take and the best position the world can take, is that all it’s inhabitants are to stand in awe of God. We see this at times in history, and it can probably be seen as the purpose of God, in the purpose of his people that they would represent God in such a way as to have all the world, not only hear of him, but also to worship him. There is one aspect of the fact that we know this world is under the sway of the enemy, of the devil, and headed for eternal wrath, but we also see instances where kings have made decrees that the world, should honor the God of specific prophets and saints.
There should be an awakening in the world, that the world would recognize that their counsels fail, and that they should seek sensible and seek God for his wisdom. God does this by frustrating the plans of the worldly wise. And proving that his counsel is supreme and eternal. Those who have faith, can endure and those who have God’s view are able to endure through this world, even when leaders of the world don’t acknowledge the sovereign counsel of God.
And it ends by explaining that the blessed, in this world are those who make God their Lord, and whom God sees as his own and whom his presence is among, and whose wisdom and counsel is among.

Finding God’s Attention

Read Psalm 33:13-22, “
13  The LORD looks down from heaven;
he sees all the children of man;
14  from where he sits enthroned he looks out
on all the inhabitants of the earth,
15  he who fashions the hearts of them all
and observes all their deeds.
16  The king is not saved by his great army;
a warrior is not delivered by his great strength.
17  The war horse is a false hope for salvation,
and by its great might it cannot rescue.
18  Behold, the eye of the LORD is on those who fear him,
on those who hope in his steadfast love,
19  that he may deliver their soul from death
and keep them alive in famine.
20  Our soul waits for the LORD;
he is our help and our shield.
21  For our heart is glad in him,
because we trust in his holy name.
22  Let your steadfast love, O LORD, be upon us,
even as we hope in you.
God looks into the world and sees our condition, and he sees our actions and our lives. He see’s the type of wisdom that everyone is living by. The Psalm writer here, is somewhat prophetic by stating divine truths that God only is the savior and the power of man and the power of horses, and wisdom is not able to save against the enemies of the souls and lives of those who are not God’s people and even those who are.
God can save from the enemies of the soul, and enemies that cause people to be locked into deceit. You see. Even those who hope not in God but “hope” for a good life outcome, still have not secured for themselves the most important thing in this life and the next. Living in fellowship with God, is the most important thing in this life, and securing your eternal life, is the most important aspect about the next, and God is able to save in all these aspects.
So, the people of God wait for him, they trust that God is their shield, and help. They trust in God’s steadfast love and character toward his people. And they worship and acknowledge the name of God as holy.
Be encouraged today! God bless!.
