HRT: Submission Notes

Submission feels like giving away power.

Biblical submission does not begin with hierarchy or roles, it begins in the life of the Trinity mutually honoring and deferring to one another for eternity.

Christ’s submission to the Father did not make him less than the Father. It was how he gave glory to the Father.

Biblical submission does not trap people in an abusive relationship that robs them of their freedom. It is the way we allow God’s kingdom agenda to shape our choices, relationships, and vocations. It always works in conjunction with our personal freedom.

Each member of the Body contributes, serves, honors, and gives of themselves for the others. Sometimes this means giving, sometimes it means receiving. Sometimes it means leading, other times it means following.
