The Kingdom of heaven Matthew 20:1-17
It starts right off with this being a story about the kingdom of heaven
The one who went out early in the morning was the householder, which in this case is a picture of God
He’s looking for people who are willing to serve Him and He is upfront about the work and pay
The Resurrection of Jesus Mark 16:1-8; Luke 24:1-12
The women were going to anoint Jesus with spices as part of their burial rituals
They, the women, were the ones who got up early in the morning
It was then that they were told the Jesus rose from the dead, though they did not meet Jesus himself.
In Mark it states one person gave this announcement
in Luke it states two people
Jesus teaching in the temple Luke 21:37-38
Jesus was in the temple teaching the people
The people were the ones who were getting up early to see Christ, though He was already up to and ready to be teaching them
This was right before Passover
Jesus teaching in the temple again John 8:1-11
Chronologically this occurs before the events of Luke 21:37-38
It reinforces that it was Jesus getting up early to go to the temple to teach
The Pharisees interrupt his teaching by bringing in an adulterous woman and He convicts all there with His wisdom.
The apostles are now the ones teaching in the temple Acts 5:17-32
The apostles had just been arrested by the high priest, but angels released them from prison and instructed them to go preach and teach in the temple.
So they went to the temple early in the morning to stand and speak “all the words of this life”
They are reproved for preaching, but the apostles stand firm in what they have been commanded to do.
