Here we are at yet another Paul’s description of the problem V. 17-22
Problem with one another
Problem with the Lord’s Supper
Paul’s reminder of the Lord’s Supper Tradition V. 23-26

Self Incrimination v.27

Anyone who partakes the Lord’s Supper in the wrong manner is guilty concerning it.
You will be held liable.
There is a difference in being unworthy and doing something in an unworthy manner.
The truth is all of have sinned and are therefore unworthy of the body and blood of our Lord and Savior.
However, He has made it possible for us to come to the table. But we must come in a manner befitting to Him.
It should be in a proper manner. Unselfishly, because He unselfishly gave Himself for us.
Doing so would bring rich spiritual blessings.
Not do so will bring severe judgement.
So how do you ensure you’re coming in the right manner?

Self Examination V. 28-30

Check yourself before you wreck yourself.
Check yourself out.
Observe yourself.
Look over yourself carefully
Do a self inspection.
So often we’re focused on others to the point that we can’t see ourselves. Our shortcomings, our attitudes.
Check to see if you pass the test of genuineness.
Some are physically and mentally ill. Some are sick to the point of losing normal mobility. Some have died. Because they failed to do self examination and ate and drank unworthily.

Self Evaluation v. 31-34

You have to judge yourself, to make a judgment on the basis of careful and detailed information.
When should you judge yourself?
Judge yourself once you have done a self examination and found that our attitude toward the Lord’s Supper and our brothers and sisters is wrong.
How should you judge yourself?
We need to correct our wrong attitudes and actions. The Corinthians needed to wait for their brothers before they ate the Lord’s and they needed to deal with their hunger pains at home and stop eating the sacred Supper as an ordinary meal.
Why should we judge ourselves?
We should judge ourselves to keep ourselves from being judged by the Lord.
That is to keep from being brought to account for our actions and punished accordingly.
If we fail to judge ourselves, God will chasten us, so that we will not harden ourselves in sin and finally fall back under the condemnation experienced by the world of sinners.
The choice is yours, judge yourself or be judged by the Lord.
You might find judging yourself is less painful.
So God’s prescription for our problems before partaking of the Lord’s Supper is to look for self incrimination, by doing a self examination and follow with a self evaluation so you can avoid self condemnation.
Make sure your get rid of that attitude of selfishness in the church.
Make sure you see one another as equal, regardless of your position, your economic status, your social status. We’re all God’s children and we’re one church!
