2 Kings 15:8-13, 31 – “Fall of Israel”

State of Israel

Of the last 6 kings of Israel, there was only one peaceful transition.

The nation is not described as a place you would want to live.

God is gracious, but they tested His judgment.

In the end, God was true to His word (17:6).

How it Got There

The nation of Israel simply didn’t listen (17:13-14).

Israel started off worshipping the wrong object (17:15/1 Kings 12:28).

They became as worthless as their idols (Psalm 115:8).

Israel was a nation full of self-centered people.

Hope in the Aftermath

Resettling efforts ended up with the same problems they already faced.

It would be easy to think there was no hope for change.

Nothing changed for the Samaritans until Jesus appears.

Jesus makes it clear that He is the one they’ve needed all along.
