Salt

Matthew 5:13 NKJV
“You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men.
Salt of the earth meant:
An individual or group considered as representative of the best or noblest elements of society.
A fundamental Human necessity
Mark 9:50 NKJV
Salt is good, but if the salt loses its flavor, how will you season it? Have salt in yourselves, and have peace with one another.”
Salt Represents value!
You are valuable to God! You are valuable!
God chose to bless the world through you and me!
Our Value is based on God’s Covenant with us.
Covenant of Salt

Covenant of Salt. Biblical phrase for a two-way agreement, the inviolability of which was symbolized by salt. A Middle Eastern saying, “There is bread and salt between us,” meant that a relationship had been confirmed by sharing a meal. Salt symbolized the life and enduring nature of the alliance. In the OT salt appears in the relationship between God and Israel (Lv 2:13). As a purifying agent and preservative in the cereal offering, salt symbolized the indissoluble nature of the covenant between God and Israel.

An everlasting “covenant of salt” (Nm 18:19) was made between God and Aaron, who represented the whole priesthood of Israel. Since the Levites received no inheritance in the Promised Land, God himself was to be their special portion forever. God’s covenant with King David and his sons was also called a covenant of salt (2 Chr 13:5).

Salt flavors and preserves, it purifies and cleans.
A covenant is an agreement!
God’s dealing with this earth are based on His covenant with you and me!
It was marked by a meal!
Salt symbolized the covenant.. are we a people of covenant?
God made a “salt covenant with:
Aaron in Nm 18:17
King David and his sons 2 Chr 13:5

The role of salt in agriculture and the effect of salt deficiencies

📷
Salt (or sodium chloride) is used for:
- Animal nutrition
- Preserving silage
- Salting hay
Why give salt to farm animals like cows, calves, sheep and goats ?
Salt plays a key role to keep animals' bodily functions in good order, as well as their general health, production and breeding capabilities. More specifically, salt stimulates and boosts animals' appetites while regulating the amount of water they drink and the dry matter they consume. Salt supplements are critical as fodder is naturally low in sodium!
📷
How much salt should I give my livestock?
Salt is the only element (together with water) that animals have a specific appetite for, i.e. they can tailor their consumption to match their needs and therefore waste nothing (no under or over-eating).
📷
What are the symptoms of salt deficiency?
There are a range of salt deficiency symptoms that are visible to varying degrees:
• loss of appetite and reduced ingestion (up to 25% less)
• pica (taste cravings: animals lick anything they find)
• slower growth
• drop in milk production
• tired animals prone to disease
• infertility problems (placenta retention, premature calving, sterility)
Matthew 5:14–16 NKJV
“You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.
Light keeps darkness out!
Light gives life and causes things to grow!
The work of God in us is not to remain a secret!
How has God’s light touched you?
Allow people to see your good works!
Matthew 4:16 NKJV
The people who sat in darkness have seen a great light, And upon those who sat in the region and shadow of death Light has dawned.”
Isaiah 42:6 NKJV
“I, the Lord, have called You in righteousness, And will hold Your hand; I will keep You and give You as a covenant to the people, As a light to the Gentiles,
Isaiah 49:6 NKJV
Indeed He says, ‘It is too small a thing that You should be My Servant To raise up the tribes of Jacob, And to restore the preserved ones of Israel; I will also give You as a light to the Gentiles, That You should be My salvation to the ends of the earth.’ ”
We hide our shame our failures and weaknesses!
Our value is that in our shame and failures and weakness God met us and removed our shame, failures and weakness.
Shame is the killer of our light and salt!
You have something very valuable to share with the world
God has touched you and moved in you! God has made you unique. You are shaped by His hands!
Ephesians 2:10 NKJV
For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.
1 Peter 2:9 NKJV
But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;
1 Corinthians 3:16 NKJV
Do you not know that you are the temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?
Do You question your value?
Do you know your worth?
You are absolutely necessary and important!
Today is the day to confront our insecurities!
Today, right now God wants to change your opinion of your self and remind you of who you are!
Let’s open our hearts and minds to receive from God right now!
Lets come to the father and allow His words to shape us from the inside out!
