If so, then:

1.            Babies would need to be baptized, but only believers are to be baptized (Mark. 16:16).

2.            Jesus was born a sinner, but He is said to be the perfect lamb of God without spot and blemish   (1 Peter 1:19).

3.            What about babies who are aborted, etc.?

What does the Bible teach?*

A.            Matthew 18:3-4; 19:14 –

and said, "Truly I say to you, unless you are converted and become like children, you shall not enter the kingdom of heaven. "Whoever then humbles himself as this child, he is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven

But Jesus said, "Let the children alone, and do

not hinder them from coming to Me; for the

kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these."

B.              Soul comes from God –

1.           Ecclesiastes 12:7 – “spirit will return to God, who gave it”

2.           Acts 17:29 – “offspring of God”

3.           Hebrews 12:9 – “father of spirits”

4.           Zechariah 12:1 – “forms the spirit of man within him”

C.            Ezekiel 18:20 –

"The person who sins will die. The son will not bear the punishment for the father's iniquity, nor will the father bear the punishment for the son's iniquity; the righteousness of the righteous will be upon himself, and the wickedness of the wicked will be upon himself.

D.            Deuteronomy 24:16 –

"Fathers shall not be put to death for their sons, nor shall sons be put to death for their fathers; everyone shall be put to death for his own sin.

-      In these verses, the imagery is that one does not inherit sin from another –

What about …

1.           Psalm 51:5 – in sin my mother

-      Most likely a hyperbole

2.           Romans 5:12 – death spread to all

-      Speaking of physical death that all must now endure as a result of Adam’s sin

3.           Ephesians 2:3 – by nature

-      Nature means “a developed lifestyle”

4.  Psalm 58:3 – estranged from the womb

-      Again, a hyperbole – notice “speaking”

5.  Isaiah 1:3-6 –

-      Notice that they: abandoned turned away
