Solomon started good. God promised long life to him—1 Kings 3:14. He would have a long life if he obeyed God. He died between the ages of 51–57. Solomon no doubt was living upon past experiences. Past blessings are good, but they will not help in the present. Paul tells us to examine ourselves to see if we are in the faith—2 Corinthians 13:5.

1. THE SORROW—1:1–18
2. THE SADNESS—2:1–26 The vanity of self indulgence to extravagant works, possessions, position
3. THE SEPARATION—3:1, 11, 18, 20
Life is worthwhile only when we remember God. God gave to man a soul. By having a soul, we may talk to God and have fellowship with Him. Too many waste their entire life and then at the end of their life brood over their wasted life.
