THE KING WHO FORGOT THE GOLDEN RULE
“And thou shalt speak unto him, saying, Thus saith the Lord, Hast thou killed, and also taken possession? And thou shalt speak unto him, saying, Thus saith the Lord, In the place where dogs licked the blood of Naboth shall dogs lick thy blood, even thine.” 1 Kings 21:19
1. The Cause—Greed for His Neighbor’s Vineyard (v. 2)
2. The Plan—Take Naboth Away from His Vineyard (v. 13)
3. Divine Intervention—Wrong Never Pays (v. 19)
4. The Eternal Court of Justice—A Flying Arrow (v. 24)
The "Golden Rule" of Leviticus 19:18 was quoted by Jesus of Nazareth (Matthew 7:12; see also Luke 6:31) and described by him as the second great commandment. The common English phrasing is "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you".
Remember the Golden Rule! Whoever has the gold, makes the rules!!
This sharp cartoon is from The Wizard of Id – a classic daily newspaper comic strip created by Brant Parker and Johnny Hart in 1964 to satirize modern American culture and politics. The strip deals with the goings-on of the rundown and oppressed shabby kingdom called “Id”.
