Wednesday Devotion for 10-14-20 6 Minutes

Good evening everyone watching by video this evening,,, it's time for our weekly devotion.
And the devotion scripture will actually come from my online class that I have been taking and will hopefully finish next week.
The scripture for this evening is Hebrews 11:3
I'll be reading from the Holman Christian Standard Bible.
Hebrews 11:3 (HCSB)
3 By faith we understand that the universe was created by God’s command, so that what is seen has been made from things that are not visible.
God bless the reading and the hearing of your word this evening.
Let us pray:
Dear Lord,,, as we begin this evening,,, with all that are listening and watching by video,,, we ask that you open our ears to hear and our hearts and minds to receive the message that you have for us today,,, In Jesus' name I pray,,, Amen.
---------------
Have you ever heard of myth's that have surfaced from other cultures that are similar to the creation story?
And if you have,,, how did you accept that information?
And if this is your first time,,, how do you accept this information now?
Does it bother you or make you question the Bible,,, because it might make you wonder if these myths had anything to do with the creation story in Genesis.
The class that I took this month was Called "Bible 1 Introduction".
During my time in class,,, we talked about the historical context and several other things that we need to look at when we are looking at a particular scripture.
We must try our best to figure out who wrote the scripture and who it was written for.
As we began to look at the author of Genesis,,, the myths surfaced again,,, I say again,,, because I had read of them years ago but shrugged them off as fiction and didn't worry about it.
But,,, this article had more information about archaeological proof that these myths actually existed around the same time that many Biblical scholars think Genesis was actually written down,,, because as you know,,, Genesis would have been history that had been handed down by oral history until the ability to preserve the written word was made available.
We have myths from the Mesopotamia era,,, that are similar to the creation story,,, Egyptians had their own myths,,, and they each had differing versions of the way that the world was created or humans were created.
So I wondered if these versions of myths might have influenced the author of Genesis.
I researched a good bit since this was what I decided to write my paper on for this class.
And of course as you might imagine,,, I found a lot of information that would make you believe that it did.
But,,, what I also found were many different things that to me,,, prove that Genesis creation story is genuine.
And I found them in the Bible!
Just google scriptures about whether Jesus talks about creation and see what pops up.
There are many where Jesus confirms these stories and uses them as He talks to the disciples and others in the synagogue.
And,,, another scripture that I found,,, that really helped,,, was Hebrews 11:3 that I read at the beginning.
3 By faith we understand that the universe was created by God’s command, so that what is seen has been made from things that are not visible.
Also,,, if you remember the first four words of Genesis read,,, "In the beginning God",,, and I have always remembered my first study Bible saying that if you can believe the first four words of the Bible,,, then you can believe everything else in the Bible that comes after it because these words form the foundation for faith.
Believing these four words and everything else is believable as well,,, because,,, in the beginning before there was anything,,, there was God!
So,,, faith is what helps us through any doubts that we might have,,, and the Bible is where we need to turn for the answers to those doubts.
So be sure that you go to the Bible for answers because the answer that you seek will always be there,,, just waiting to be found!
