Yahweh is a Liberator
Yahweh is a Liberator
On the third new moon after the people of Israel had gone out of the land of Egypt, on that day they came into the wilderness of Sinai.
“I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery.
Slaves were expensive. As the years of slavery passed, they became more expensive. Regardless, white farmers, plantation owners, and others bought slaves as an investment. Slaves made even more money for their owners than they cost to buy.
A healthy 18-year-old slave could be bought for $650 in 1845. (About $14,500 in today's dollars.)
That same slave could be sold five years later for $1,000. (About $21,000 in today's dollars.)
That same slave, if he or she were still healthy, could be sold again. In the years right before the Civil War, such a slave might bring nearly $2,000. (About $40,000 in today's dollars.
who appeared in glory and spoke of his departure, which he was about to accomplish at Jerusalem.

“I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery.
“You shall have no other gods before me.
Seeing the crowds, he went up on the mountain, and when he sat down, his disciples came to him.
And he opened his mouth and taught them, saying:
“Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them.

Now Moses used to take the tent and pitch it outside the camp, far off from the camp, and he called it the tent of meeting. And everyone who sought the Lord would go out to the tent of meeting, which was outside the camp. Whenever Moses went out to the tent, all the people would rise up, and each would stand at his tent door, and watch Moses until he had gone into the tent. When Moses entered the tent, the pillar of cloud would descend and stand at the entrance of the tent, and the Lord would speak with Moses. And when all the people saw the pillar of cloud standing at the entrance of the tent, all the people would rise up and worship, each at his tent door. Thus the Lord used to speak to Moses face to face, as a man speaks to his friend. When Moses turned again into the camp, his assistant Joshua the son of Nun, a young man, would not depart from the tent.
And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.
“If you love me, you will keep my commandments. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, to be with you forever,
The main character on girlfriends, Joan is in a rush to be in a relationship with somebody anybody. She wants to spend her life with somebody and make a life with them. She jumps into all sorts of relationships with men that she doesn’t even know very well. We laugh and shake our head at Joan, because we know that it might blow up in he race.
But when I read Exodus, God has the same desire to be in relationship with his people. To be in relationship with you.
Except God wants to be in relationship with you, full well knowing your back ground and your past. Your history doesn’t scare him. You might be presently in bondage, but Jesus will... He does whatever it takes to liberate you and to sanctify you in his love so that he can live with you forever.
God wants to live in and with you.
