If Mary had never submitted to the Holy Spirit he could not have used her.
We can desire many things but God says, if you delight in me I will give you the desires of your heart.
Desiring something will make you go after it with everything within us. That’s what God wants us to do for Him. When we do that, He will give us that desire and it will line up with his will.
