Jesus is Coming

A. The Son of Man coming in his Kingdom. See Matthew 16:27 “For the Son of Man is going to come with his angels in the glory of his Father..
Matthew 16:28 “the Son of Man coming in his Kingdom”.
In light of his coming, we are accountable to him. See Romans 14:10-12 (The Judgement seat Bema), 1 Corinthians 3:12-15 (Building on Jesus our foundation), and Matthew 25:14-30. (Parable of the Talents)
How should we then live? See Hebrews 10:24-25 “And let us consider one another in order to provoke love and good works, not neglecting to gather together as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging each other, and all the more as you see the day approaching.

The Glory Of Jesus

B. Jesus transfigured ( metemorphothe, changed in form) used in Rom. 12:2; 2 Cor 3:18.

3. Had this glory with the father before the world was created. See John 17:5. “Now, Father, glorify me in your presence with that glory I had with you before the world existed”.

Hebrews 1:3 “The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact expression of his nature ...

Rev 1:16b “He had seven stars in his right hand; a sharp double edged sword came from his mouth, and his face was shining like the sun at full strength”.

Who comprises the Kingdom of God

4. Matt. 17:3 “Suddenly, Moses and Elijah appeared to them, talking with him”.
Several applications are seen in the appearances of Moses and Elijah.
Moses represents the Law and Elijah, the prophets. See John 1:45 “We have found the one Moses wrote about in the law and the prophets: Jesus the son of Joseph, from Nazareth.”
After his resurrection, Jesus explained the scriptures from the Law and the Prophets concerning himself. See Luke 24:13-27.
See also Romans 3:21-22 “But now, apart from the law, the righteousness of God has been revealed, attested by the Law and the Prophets, The righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ, to all who believe...
They also represent the dead and the living. Moses died as stated in Deut. 34:5, 7 and Joshua 1:1-2. Elijah never experienced physical death but was taken to Heaven, see 2 Kings 2:11.
They also represent the dead in Christ and those who are alive and caught up at his coming. See 1 Thess 4:13-18. See also 1 Cor. 15:51-58.

The incomparable Jesus

Matthew 17:4bI will set up three shelters here: one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.”
Are we putting other things or people on par (same level or equal) to Jesus?
See Heb 3:1-6, (Moses was faithful as a servant in God’s household, but Christ was faithful as a son.)
For Elijah see Mal. 4:5-6 with Matt 17:10-13
Hear (Listen) to him (Jesus)
We will be responsible for listening to the words of Jesus.
See Heb 1:1-2 God has spoken to us in these last days by or through his son. So its important to take heed to what he has to say to us since it has eternal consequences.
See Mary’s (Jesus mother’s) advice at the wedding in Cana. John 2:5 “Do whatever he tells you”.
Heb 10:28-39. Its a terrifying thing to fall into the hands of the living God for those who trample on the Son of God.
