What are some of the things a person might endure?

Emotional Pain - Outcast of Society

The Proclamation - Unclean

They were not allowed to socialize with anyone who was clean. There potential for friends were limited to others with the disease.

They had to quarantine. They had to social distance. Instead of tracing who they had been with, they were just not allowed to be with anyone that did not have a skin disease.

Can You image the emotional pain this would cause knowing that you would never get over this disease?

Physical Pain - The Disease

Most scholars it seems thinks that the disease the man suffered from what we call leprosy or Hansen’s Disease today.

Leprosy was probably a term for multiple skin diseases.

Any skin disease can be painful at worst and irritating at best.

There was no hope of being healed.

Religious Pain - Not allowed to go to the Temple.

As an unclean member of society they were not allowed to go to the temple to worship.

They couldn’t participate in the ceremonial rites of the day.

Do we cause anyone spiritual pain today by our actions?

Who are our societal outcast today?

The Poor

The Imprisoned

The Homeless

As The People of God what is our response to be?
