Jesus encorages belief

The word “believe” in John 7:38 is translated in ESV as “entrust” and “faith” elsewhere in the NT
In John 7:38, it speaks about beliving in the “Jesus of Gospel”, not an imitation.

and let the one who believes in me drink. As the scripture has said, ‘Out of the believer’s heart shall flow rivers of living water.’ ”

Jesus promises the Spirit

A future reality

Jesus will be glorified

Jesus need to be glorified before the Spirit could be sent.
