Consider Jesus
“CONSIDER JESUS”
Heb. 3:1-6
Introduction: Notice the mention of Christ as our high priest in v.17 of chapter 2. It is mentioned again here in v. 1 of the 3rd chapter. However, the discussion of Christ’s priesthood is not developed just here. Instead, another subject is discussed first. Let us examine the passage.
I. A Description of the Christian
A. “Holy Brethren”
1. Emphasizes sanctification (holy; set apart for service to God; cleansed).
2. Emphasizes family relationship (looks back to 2:11).
B. “Partakers of the Heavenly calling.”
1. It is a heavenly calling because it originated in heaven.
2. It is a heavenly calling because it has heaven as its goal.
II. A Description of Christ
A. “Apostle”
1. Basic meaning - “one sent with a commission.”
2. Jesus was sent, commissioned by the Father.

III. Christ Contrasted with Moses.
A. Christ is superior to Moses.
1. Moses was great, but Christ is greater!
2. Moses was a faithful servant, Christ a faithful son! (v. 5,6)
3. The glory due to Moses and Christ is like that of a house to a house-builder!
B. Note v. 4 - the argument is: design demands a designer!
