2 Kings 18-19 – “The God We Can Trust”

Worth Obedience

Hezekiah had a bad example before him and bad influences around him.

18:3 - In the end, He was known for still doing what was right.

Even in a time of testing, Hezekiah consistently obeyed (18:6).

God is worth the faith that it takes to obey Him.

Listens

Hezekiah responds to the Assyrian threat with prayer (19:14-16).

The amazing aspect of prayer is that God hears (19:20).

God hears us on the basis of our relationship with Him through Christ.

Don’t let the simplicity of this truth take away from its magnitude.

Power

Assyria tries to bargain with Judah from a position of power (18:23-24).

Hezekiah’s confidence was in knowing God alone is really God (19:18).

In 19:35-37 Assyria learns where the true power lies.

When we remember the power of God, trusting Him is easier.
