Carpe Crastinus!

Intro

Couple of years ago, the latin phrase Carpe Diem got real popular from a movie called the Dead Poet’s Society.  The phrase means “Seize the Day!”  which is basically talking about live the most each day, make every moment count, you only have one today before it becomes part of all the yesterdays…make it count!   It is a great phrase, except when it gets twisted into meaning “Live for the Day”  tomorrow doesn’t matter.  Then it gets warped into some self-serving, instant gratification philosophy.  Make the most of today…but do it in light of all of your tomorrows yet to come.  In fact, take it so far as to say Carpe Diem, yes, but Carpe Crastinus! As well!  Seize your tomorrows right now.

How do you do that?  First you have to actually picture your tomorrows…

God-sized Dreams

*Through the years there have been many dreams birthed on this weekend.  Many turned out to be day dreams, some have turned out to be true vision.

Be willing to dream God-sized dreams!

*We haven’t talked about dreaming in a while…

We are to the point where we need to start dreaming again….bigger and better dreams than ever b4 and see where it takes us.

You should be dreaming so big that it scares the sin out of you.  Not everyone here is called to full-time occupational ministry, but that doesn’t mean that whatever you wind up doing won’t be for the Kingdom.

*This weekend outside of you environment…outside of your world.  The world is much bigger than you realize.  You have a place in it to make a difference.  Stop thinking small town thoughts.  Think global.

Jere 29:11 (NIV) For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

12 Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you.

13 You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.

14 I will be found by you," declares the LORD…

Altar of the Present

Sacrifice your future on the altar of the present

Instant gratification

Prov. 29:18 Without vision the people cast off restraint…

If you have no vision for the future then you have no reason to deny yourself anything in the here and now.   But if you have a picture of what you want more than anything, a picture that God has birthed in your heart then you are willing to look at the second best and say… “It’s not good enough!”

Most everyone around you is running around acting like fools:

Psal 14:1 (NKJV) The fool has said in his heart,

"There is no God." They are corrupt, They have done abominable works, There is none who does good.

With their actions they are saying that there is no God.

Sell Out

There is only one way to effectively seize the best possible tomorrows…and that is to sell out!

To trade your sorrows and shame , your sickness and pain for God’s best.  Jesus died for you to make a better way for you in this world as well as the next.

There is only way to seize your tomorrows…and that is to trade in your past, surrender your present, and trust in Him for your future.

To become a Christ-follower

Do you want to live, I mean really live not just exist, not just survive…then sell out…seize your tomorrows

Altar

Don’t forget your future!
