How Will They Know?
Matthew 5:22-23 (The Message) "… Carelessly call a brother ‘idiot!’ and you just might find yourself hauled into court. Thoughtlessly yell ‘stupid!’ at a sister and you are on the brink of hellfire. The simple moral fact is that words kill…”
No higher mission
Romans 10:14-15 (NLT) "But how can they call on him to save them unless they believe in him? And how can they believe in him if they have never heard about him? And how can they hear about him unless someone tells them? And how will anyone go and tell them without being sent? That is what the Scriptures mean when they say, “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!”"
Romans 10:14-15 (The Message) "But how can people call for help if they don’t know who to trust? And how can they know who to trust if they haven’t heard of the One who can be trusted? And how can they hear if nobody tells them? And how is anyone going to tell them, unless someone is sent to do it? That’s why Scripture exclaims, A sight to take your breath away! Grand processions of people telling all the good things of God!"
“Come and see” evangelism
First Jesus says “Come and See”
John 1:35-39 (NLT) "The following day, John was again standing with two of his disciples. As Jesus walked by, John looked at him and then declared, “Look! There is the Lamb of God!” Then John’s two disciples turned and followed Jesus. Jesus looked around and saw them following. “What do you want?” he asked them. They replied, “Rabbi” (which means Teacher), “where are you staying?” “Come and see,” he said. It was about four o’clock in the afternoon when they went with him to the place, and they stayed there the rest of the day."
John 1:40-42 (NLT) "Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, was one of these men who had heard what John said and then followed Jesus. The first thing Andrew did was to find his brother, Simon, and tell him, “We have found the Messiah” (which means the Christ). Then Andrew brought Simon to meet Jesus. Looking intently at Simon, Jesus said, “You are Simon, the son of John—but you will be called Cephas” (which means Peter)."
John 1:43-46 (NLT) "The next day Jesus decided to go to Galilee. He found Philip and said to him, “Come, be my disciple.” Philip was from Bethsaida, Andrew and Peter’s hometown. Philip went off to look for Nathanael and told him, “We have found the very person Moses and the prophets wrote about! His name is Jesus, the son of Joseph from Nazareth.” “Nazareth!” exclaimed Nathanael. “Can anything good come from there?” “Just come and see for yourself,” Philip said."
John 4:29-30 (NKJV) "“Come, see a Man who told me all things that I ever did. Could this be the Christ?” Then they went out of the city and came to Him."
“Friendship evangelism”
“Search & Rescue Evangelism”
Jude 23 (NLT) "Rescue others by snatching them from the flames of judgment. There are still others to whom you need to show mercy, but be careful that you aren’t contaminated by their sins."
I picture how during 9/11 the firefighters and rescue personal all rushed in while everyone else was rushing out concerned for their own needs.
They threw themselves into danger knowing they had to get the people out.
