Luke 4:5–7 CSB
5 So he took him up and showed him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time. 6 The devil said to him, “I will give you their splendor and all this authority, because it has been given over to me, and I can give it to anyone I want. 7 If you, then, will worship me, all will be yours.”
In the temptation of Jesus Christ, this part is very revealing, in this part of the temptation we notice satan always want worship.
Satan in this part of the temptation made an outstanding revelation, after showing Jesus all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time. The devil said to him, “I will give you their splendor and all this authority, because it has been given over to me”, That is an outstanding revelation, who gave the devil the kingdom of the world,
To investigate this we need to God to the beginning of all things, in the book of Genesis, when God created man we read in Genesis 1:26
Genesis 1:26 NIV
26 Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.”
In the above scripture, when God created man, God gave to man the kingdom of the world, it man that said to take dominion or rule the earth, and there what happen was that satan tempted man and man fell in sin, there the devil took of the kingdoms of the world and became the ruler of it.
Originally the kingdom of the world and it splendor was handed to man by God but man sinned and handed the rulership of the kingdoms of the world to the devil, so when we read scriptures we notice that Satan is now the the ruler of this world scriptures like:-
John 12:31 NLT
31 The time for judging this world has come, when Satan, the ruler of this world, will be cast out.
John 14:30 NLT
30 “I don’t have much more time to talk to you, because the ruler of this world approaches. He has no power over me,
Jesus call Satan the ruler of this world, we also read that the “world is under the control of the evil one”
1 John 5:19 NLT
19 We know that we are children of God and that the world around us is under the control of the evil one.
Paul also called Satan the God of this world; see
2 Corinthians 4:4 NLT
4 Satan, who is the god of this world, has blinded the minds of those who don’t believe. They are unable to see the glorious light of the Good News. They don’t understand this message about the glory of Christ, who is the exact likeness of God.
Now if Satan is the God of this world, or the ruler of this world, then how is the life going to be. If things are not going well then I want you to understand that Satan is the ruler of the world, the kingdoms of the world and it splendor has being given to him,
