Fighting Forward

Intro

One of our Core Values around here is that “We believe that teens need to learn to be lifelong warriors of the faith in order to fight the lust of their flesh, fight to overcome the Enemy, and fight to live a life of passion unto the Lord.”

Romans 12:2 (NKJV) "And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God."

Romans 12:2 (NLT) "Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will know what God wants you to do, and you will know how good and pleasing and perfect his will really is."

Gravity constantly pulls on you.  If you were to just give in to what comes naturally you would do nothing and go nowhere.  You would eventually die.

Everyday you get up you are fighting back.  Everyday you go anywhere, do anything you are fighting against what comes naturally.

People say Christians are weak, I say they are the toughest there is!  Not only do they practice self-discipline, but they constantly are fighting back against their sinful nature that pulls at them.

When they do fall, it takes mental toughness to get back up again!  It takes toughness and courage to drag your butt off the ground and keep going!

Ways to Fight:

Step One:  Acknowledge that you have sinned and rebelled against God by your actions.

Repent of those sins and turn your life over to Jesus Christ.  Commit to go against the flow.

Think about it.  Gravity is natural.  “Just do what your heart tells you”  “It’s not wrong…it’s natural.”

If we didn’t push back against what is natural we would go no where.

We would be disabled.  We would have no strength.  We would achieve nothing.  We would go no where.  We would be in pain (bed sores, degenerate muschles, etc.)

If we just give into sin, we give in to what is natural but we go against what we were created for.

“Serving Christ is for Panzies”

It takes strength to follow Christ.  It takes continual growth and strength to continue to serve Him.

It takes someone who is tough as nails.  Speaking of nails…

He wanted to avoid it…who wouldn’t?

He fought back against his desire and submitted Himself to what was right.

Some think that it will be too hard to live different, even though you can feel the Lord tugging on your heart.  Don’t be afraid.  Have courage.  He will give you the strength you need.  He will give you the grace you need for when you fall.  He will fight for you when your strength is gone.
