MY NOTES
BELONGING CUES: THE FOCUS
ALL I want to focus on this next Calendar year is belonging. Teaching the church how to show and make people to know that they are safe at THE BRIDGE.
BUILD A CULTURE OF BELONGING. ONLY HAVE, DEVELOP AND POUR RESOURCES INTO THE FOLLOWING:
First Impression Team (FIT)
everyone trained in this
specific people do it on Sundays
Home Team (Body life)
Bridge Builders (Evangelism)
The Bridge Way (Family DNA)
The Purpose of the Bridge
Tag line: Building Community/Changing Lives
OR: Genuinely Connected/Changing Lives
This will encircle the logo
The Bridge exists to make disciples by:
Teaching truth in ways that everyone can understand
Bridge Building
teaching people how to create safety with guests and one another
Helping people to have a better “every day” walk with Jesus
A. Name change
B. Focuses

1. We are a vision church: why we exist

2. The Bridge: Building community and changing lives

a. Define and describe building community BUT

i. in terms that excite those present (their needs, the nthings they’ve been mission
ii. AND challenge them to be this way too)

b. Define and describe Changing Lives: Change

i. From foe or Jesus to Friend of Jesus
ii. From outsider to family
iii. From spiritual newborn to spiritual maturity
IDEA: Do the counseling program from Rick Warren

3. Our purpose: to build disciples of every culture and hue

4. OUR STRATEGY TO ACHIEVE THE PURPUSE: BY

a. Teaching truth in a way that anyone can understand it

i. We value doctrine
ii. We value precision in terminology
iii. BUT WE VALUE THE LOST AND THE PEOPLE OF GOD ENOUGH TO MAKE DOCTRINAL PRECISION PRACTICAL

b. Helping people to have a better everyday walk (life) with Jesus

The focus here is on building growth not expecting it. It is the foundational assumption that people
- Need to grow
- Want to grow
- Don’t know how to do so

5. SO THE QUESTION BEHIND EVERY VENTURE, MINISTRY, IDEA IS THIS

a. How does it achieve the purpose?

i. It cannot complicate matters

ii. It cannot work against perceived needs

iii. It cannot show up empty without created traction in people hearts, lives and families

iv. It must reduce tangible results that people see change and growth: IN A WORD “DIFFERENCE”

MAKING OUR PURPOSE
Ennobling: our endeavors are more noble and dignified
serving the needs of the church for greater maturity
serving the needs of the community for discipleship
serving the world through missions for global glory
