- all the things the world says is up to us, God says, leave that up to me.
- You focus on what’s important to me, instead of what’s important to the world, and I’ll give you everything they’re all trying to handle themselves!
Isaiah 41:10 NKJV
10 Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’
- i will uphold you, what’s our part? Fear not.
Isaiah 40:31 NKJV
31 But those who wait on the Lord Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint.
- You will run and not grow weary, walk and not faint. What’s our part? Wait on Him.
Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.
Let your requests be made known, THEN the peace of God that surpasses understanding will guard us.
Put on the whole armor of God, THEN we’ll be able to stand against the Devil.
Flee sexual immorality, you have a fulfilling, faithful, healthy marriage!
Galatians 5:1–6 NKJV
1 Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage. 2 Indeed I, Paul, say to you that if you become circumcised, Christ will profit you nothing. 3 And I testify again to every man who becomes circumcised that he is a debtor to keep the whole law. 4 You have become estranged from Christ, you who attempt to be justified by law; you have fallen from grace. 5 For we through the Spirit eagerly wait for the hope of righteousness by faith. 6 For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision avails anything, but faith working through love.
Galatians 5:11–13 NKJV
11 And I, brethren, if I still preach circumcision, why do I still suffer persecution? Then the offense of the cross has ceased. 12 I could wish that those who trouble you would even cut themselves off! 13 For you, brethren, have been called to liberty; only do not use liberty as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another.
Galatians 5:16–26 NKJV
16 I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. 17 For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish. 18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law. 19 Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, 20 idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, 21 envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. 22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. 24 And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. 25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. 26 Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another.
Fruit is interesting because it requires preceeding steps. You never *start* with fruit.
Everything God wants to do in your life requires one thing: trust.
Therefore, what does the enemy want to target?
When you feel fear, the enemy is trying to rob you of God’s promises! When you feel hopeless, discouraged, attacked, exhausted. HE WANTS YOU TO STOP TRUSTING!!
Anything the enemy can get you to do, to stop trusting God, ROBS you of His promises.
What does it look like when we stop trusting?
Fear
Grumbling & Complaining
Love of the World
that condition of walking continually in a condition of trust requires surrender, humility, perseverance, & patience. God calls it walking in the Spirit.
In fact, when you give up and decide to take matters into your own hands, the problem isn’t God. The problem is, you’ve forgotten about God’s part. You’ve forgotten He promised He’d move in your situation because you sought Him first. You’ve forgotten He promised He’d uphold you, He’d go before you and prepare the way.
When you stop praying, you’ve forgotten. When you start acting and speaking out of fear, you’ve forgotten. When you stop obeying, you’ve forgotten. When you stop sowing, obeying, loving sacrificially, fleeing from sin, you’ve forgotten! You think it’s okay to live outside of His promises!
God’s part is healing! God’s part is creative miracles! God’s part is super-natural provision. God’s part is empowerment to stand. God’s part is giving us freedom. God’s part is transforming our suffering into perseverance, character, and hope! God’s part is fulfillment in Christ. God’s part is giving us wisdom and direction for how to live our lives. HE gives us the desires of our heart. HE adds to us all the “other things.” Every single one of these things, is fruit.
God doesn’t *need* or *want* us to do ANY of those things. He wants *us* to continually step out of the world and out of the flesh. He wants us to focus on Him, love Him.
God’s part always follows our part.
