And he said, This will I do: I will pull down my barns, and build greater; and there will I bestow all my fruits and my goods. And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry. But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided? So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.

Now if you knew that you had only twelve hours to live, what would you do?

Let me tell you several things I believe you and I would want to do.

WE WOULD WANT TO BE SURE OF OUR SALVATION

Are you sure that you have been really and truly saved?

Are you certain that you are a child of God?

Do you know that you have had a saving experience with Christ? Paul could say, "I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day"

2 Timothy 1:12 KJV 1900

For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.

WE WOULD WANT TO BE AFFILIATED WITH A NEW TESTAMENT CHURCH

If we had only twelve hours to live we would want to be an active and faithful member of a New Testament church.

WE WOULD WANT TO MAKE RESTITUTION FOR OUR WRONGS

If we had only twelve hours to live I am sure we could think of some restitution which we should make. One day Zacchaeus, a publican and a sinner, met Jesus. Listen to him, "If I have taken anything wrongfully from any man I will restore it fourfold."

WE WOULD WANT TO GET RIGHT ON THE MONEY QUESTION

Yes, it is very important that we always be right on the money question. The tithe is not yours to spend; it belongs to God.

The tithe ought to be paid as the income is made.

The top tenth, the first tenth, is always to be paid to God.

I did not say "given to God."

WE WOULD WANT TO WITNESS TO SOMEONE ABOUT JESUS CHRIST

You can think of someone right now who is lost. If you knew that you had only twelve hours to live you would surely want to hasten to them and try to win them to Christ.

Do you know that you have more than twelve hours to live?

Can any doctor on earth guarantee that you are going to live even one more hour?
