Taking your Spiritual Vitamins

Intro

To know Christ is a must.  But that is not the end.  You have to grow as a Christian.  You can’t remain a baby forever.

Ill.  Me “you’re not old enough” I craved responsibility.  Now there are times when I wish I could be a kid again.

The law of life…you either grow or die. “Life is not neutral”

*We have not seen the dead raised, we have not seen the blind see, we have not seen the miraculous, and I will not be satisfied until we do!

1Cor 14:20 (NIV) “Brothers, stop thinking like children. In regard to evil be infants, but in your thinking be adults.

Hebr 5:13-14 (NIV) “Anyone who lives on milk, being still an infant, is not acquainted with the teaching about righteousness. But solid food is for the mature, who by constant use have trained themselves to distinguish good from evil.

How to achieve spiritual maturity

I.  Understand that it is a process not an event.

*Adulthood doesn’t come overnight, and it shouldn’t.

**Understand that maturity does not equal age.

*Have to learn things, before the freedom of adulthood.

II.  Understand  it comes from being broken.

*Understanding that you inhale, but that you are awesome because of Who loved you, and Whose family that you are a part of.

*Pride has no place in maturity

*Many of you have a head start, if you get a right perspective on it!  You have had lives that have shown you constant brokenness.  Many choose the wrong way to deal with it though. Choosing escape rather than dealing.  Choosing to have a hardened heart instead of keeping a tender heart before the Lord.

III. Understand it comes from serving others.

*From that brokenness you learn that you are not better than others.

*Skin color, economic background, nothing matters except knowing Christ

IV.  Understand that discipline and principles are a must.

[E1]

*The quest for average.

*If your goal is to be like everyone else instead of being like Jesus, you will not only not grow, but you will not be a Christian very long.

No man can serve two masters.
