Intro: It seems like today we live in a constant state of uncertainty. It takes much less time to mention what is going well in our nation than it would to discuss what is going poorly. The Virus, political and social unrest have created in us the feelings of anxiety and fear. Many of us our saying if we could only go back to the way things were life would feel secure again.

I. Holding on to the past will never bring security to the future.

Ecclesiastes 7:10, 13-14

10 Don’t say, “Why were the former days better than these?”

since it is not wise of you to ask this.

13 Consider the work of God,

for who can straighten out

what he has made crooked?

14 In the day of prosperity be joyful, but in the day of adversity, consider: God has made the one as well as the other, so that no one can discover anything that will come after him.

Why is it natural to focus on the past during hardship?

II. Uncertainty is Promised Ecc. 7:14

What does this verse tell us about life?

III. The discomfort of uncertainty should bare the fruit of growth James 1:1-16

2 Consider it a great joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you experience various trials, 3 because you know that the testing of your faith produces endurance. 4 And let endurance have its full effect, so that you may be mature and complete, lacking nothing.

5 Now if any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God—who gives to all generously and ungrudgingly—and it will be given to him. 6 But let him ask in faith without doubting. For the doubter is like the surging sea, driven and tossed by the wind. 7 That person should not expect to receive anything from the Lord, 8 being double-minded and unstable in all his ways.,

What is usually our first response to hardship?
What are some ways that we wrongly cope with the anxiety of uncertainty?
Why is uncertainty a benefit to the believer?
IV. The Discomfort of Uncertainty should drive us to the one who is certain Psalm 46
What if uncertainty is a tool used by God to create something bigger and better, are you willing embrace it?
