Invitation to the Conquering Lifestyle

Intro

If there is one thing that we need to focus on it is the victory that we have in Christ.  There are way too many Christians walking around with their heads down, dragging their feet, down in the dumps, living completely defeated!  It is tragic!  Especially when God’s Word tells us that He has made us more than Conquerors in Christ.  God has called you to conquer in your relationships, your emotions, your habits and addictions…everything!  We are going to talk about conquering in our relationships next week.

Authority to Conquer

Jesus has given us authority to conquer in His Name.  That is what we are doing here in Mich. City.  That is what we did last week.

Here to conquer in Jesus’ Name.

Romans 8:37 (NIV) No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.

38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers,

39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Key Focus:  Conquering your thought life

What do you allow to master you?  Does anything have dominion in your life other than the Lord?

Appetites?  Desires?  Emotional longings?

Some of you have begun to slip into old sin habits, old defeated ways of thinking.  You go to God saying “please help me, give me strength, give me a fresh revelation.”  You don’t need a revelation, you need a REVOLUTION! 

All of your problems are because of someone else.  Something or Someone  else is always to blame for your hardships. 

“My parents this…”

“I have this condition…”

“It’s not my fault…”

“I need this situation to change, before I can really start serving God.”

One of the greatest keys to living a conquering lifestyle in your thought life is to TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR YOUR ACTIONS.

Maybe some terrible things have happened in your life, but you do not have to live like a victim for the rest of your life and let your past rule your future.  Jesus can not only heal your hurt, but can set you free from any lasting effects!

Roma 12:1 (NKJV) I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, [which] [is] your reasonable service.

2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what [is] that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

The Battle for your Thought Life

It is a battle!  You have to fight it!

2Cor 10:5 (NKJV) casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ,

Must believe in faith that you will overcome…

1Cor 15:57 (NIV) But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

1John 5:4 (NIV) for everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith.

James 1:6 (NIV) But when he asks, he must believe and not doubt, because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind.

7 That man should not think he will receive anything from the Lord;

8 he is a double-minded man, unstable in all he does.

Josh 1:8 (NIV) Do not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it. Then you will be prosperous and successful.

9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go."

Psal 119:9 (NIV) “How can a young man keep his way pure?

By living according to your word.

10 I seek you with all my heart;

do not let me stray from your commands.

11 I have hidden your word in my heart

that I might not sin against you.”

There is One God, and but one way to experience Him and that is through Jesus Christ!
