Introduction:
We talked the last time about the first two lines of the Lords Prayer just to recap a few things on the scripture before we move through and break down the rest of the prayer.
The diciples as Jesus in Luke this question “ Lord teach us to pray as John also taught his diciples.’
Now it came to pass, as He was praying in a certain place, when He ceased, that one of His disciples said to Him, “Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples.”
And this is when Jesus tells them in verse 2 “ When you pray, say:
So He said to them, “When you pray, say:
Our Father in heaven,
Hallowed be Your name.
Your kingdom come.
Your will be done
On earth as it is in heaven.
Jesus expected us to mimick this prayer. He teaches them the content of the prayer and even today many of us resite this prayer word for word.
Our Father in heaven Hallowed be they name.
God’s name is so Holy.....we sometimes forget that, we forget that he’s perfect and pure and magnificent and that in all our flaws and brokeness he loves us. The Holy God of the universe loves us.
In the Hebrew language you have consants and instead of actual vowels you have a thing called vowel pointings
In Hebrew they didn’t even say his name in the bible they wrote down the consants for the name of God but not the vowel pointings. The vowel pointings where for the word Adoni or Elohim and so when they read their bible they would say the word Adoni or Elohim instead because the name of he Lord was so holy they couldn’t write it down and they couldnt’ say it out loud.
Hallowed be they name the ancient Hebrews took that very seriously.
Technically even today we aren’t saying this particular holy name of God. Jehovah is the transliteration of yahweh how we say this word in english when it have the word translated into english we get Jehovah. God has many names today father friends savior Jesus comforter counselor..........etc.
Lets get into the scripture
Give us day by day our daily bread.
And forgive us our sins,
For we also forgive everyone who is indebted to us.
And do not lead us into temptation,
But deliver us from the evil one.”

Give us our needs. Give us the things we need to get through every day life. Not neccessarily our wants.

Love joy peace patience goodness.
Although God says
Delight yourself also in the Lord,
And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
God cares about our needs and our desires.
We are his children......we want to give them stuff.
If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!

Then Peter came to Him and said, “Lord, how often shall my brother sin against me, and I forgive him? Up to seven times?”
Jesus said to him, “I do not say to you, up to seven times, but up to seventy times seven.
Forgiveness is for you and for your healing.
We have to ask for forgivness for our sins.
Why Pastor Deadra?
Ummmm cause Jesus just said so and just modeled it.
He modeled it for the diciples knowing that he would eventually be going to the cross paying for the sins we are asking for forgivness for he left them with this model.
This concept can get very very very sticky and hairy as to Jesus died on the cross to save me for my sins. My sins are forgiven after i ask Jesus into my heart he forgives all my sins. Just as we forgive other people and its for us. When we ask for forgives of our sins its the same concept not that Jesus blood is not powerful enough or we are not forgiven. Asking for the forgivness for our sins is because we need to ask for forgivness for ourselves, to heal our soul, its for us. Asking forgivness of our sins is for us. We must need it Jesus says so. And how can we change and turn from sin if we don’t recognize when we sin.

Keep us on the straight and narrow. The fact that Jesus says here that we need to not be lead into temptation shows that he knows that our sinful nature is going to tempt us and that we have an enemy that is going to tempt us. I think it’s funny here that he says evil one the devil satan needs no introduction they knows just who it is. Jesus doesn’t even want you to give him a title or a name here. Course there could be more than one evil one trying to tempt us or attack us satan and his demon or anyone that might be influenced by those demons.
There is a real enemy but he has no power over us except the
