What is Thankfulness

As we start to as this Question start thinking about are you thankful? Do you know what it mean to be thankful. Why we ever celebrate thanksgiving in the first place?
Believe it or not but thanksgiving is actually a biblical act. It is not something that is ment to be celebrated on one day out of the whole year either. We are called to be thankful everyday and we take it for granted when we do.
The Definition of the word thanksgiving is : The act of offering thanks or being thankful, usually to God. Often connected to provision, deliverance, or God’s character. Commonly associated in Scripture with meals and worship.
Lets focus on that for a second The thing that stand out the most is the things that is often associated with it.
Provision, Deliverance, Or God’s Character
What does those things mean?
Provision Is everything that has every been there for you Food Water shelter It might not the best but It is provided for you.
Deliverance is what happens when you are in trouble or in a times of pain or hurting and you overcame the situation whatever it may be.
God’s Character we could talk about this one all day with many different words but the one we are going to focus on is Gods mercy and his grace.
The Point is that we always have something that we need to be thankful for thanks to God. Don’t take my word for it let’s look at God’s word and see what it has to say about it.

What Does God Say About It

Psalm 100:4 CSB
Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise. Give thanks to him and bless his name.
This first passage here brings something we tend to forget which is when we come to God’s House or God’s Presence we are called to be thankful for everything we do not deserve it.
We turn our back of God time and time Again yet he gave us a way to come to him so freely all we have to do is believe and confess. We should be the most thankful out of it.
This next one is one that we need to hear.
Ephesians 5:18–21 CSB
And don’t get drunk with wine, which leads to reckless living, but be filled by the Spirit: speaking to one another in psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, singing and making music with your heart to the Lord, giving thanks always for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, submitting to one another in the fear of Christ.
We are called to not live a life of craziness when things start to go bad in our life. We are instead called to give thanks to God for it. There is work being done in our life that we do not see. But this last part of the verse should be the one that is scary for us as Christians.
When we give in to the drunkenness of life we are say Christ cannot handle it and showing we fear what it is Christ has done for us.
1 Thessalonians 5:18–19 CSB
give thanks in everything; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. Don’t stifle the Spirit.
We are called to Give thanks in everything and show Christ that we deserve the free gift that was given to us. His life did not have to be taken so we can live but it was now we live for free.
Verse 19- do not Stifle the spirit.
Stifle means to stop the breathing of something. We do this all the time we need to stop choking the spirit and allow him to work in our lives. For this to work it starts with us being thankful.
So the big question is simple.

Have I been thankful

Now is the time to ask have you been thankful for Christ dying for you?
Do you know he Died for you?
do you believe it?
