Introduction: Here we are 2 days away from Election Day 2020. I’m not sure you’ll agree with me or not, but I am SO READY for this election season to end. We’ve seen every hateful political add. Facebook continually bothers you with pushing you to vote. You can’t watch tv without a candidate being belittled on the television and it changes depending on the network you watch.
We see our country devided. This country that while here on earth we are citizens of. However, as we’ve seen play out over the past 3 weeks, we who are followers of the Lord Jesus Christ are not ultimately citizens of this world…we are citizens of heaven!
If this is your first time joining us in person or online I welcome you and I’m grateful that you’re here. You’ve caught us about midway through our series “Sojourners: The Book of 1 Peter” and in this series we are seeing just how true that word is…we are sojourners in this world. We’ve been saved by God’s grace and ultimately live as citizens of heaven, awaiting our eternal home in heaven.
We’ve also learned that because of that reality, we are to live a holy life so that those who surround us in our circles of accountability where we live, work and play have multiple opportunities to see, hear and respond to the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Today’s passage in 1 Peter 2:13-25 hits at a perfect time as we are on the eve of the election. Let’s stand together as we honor the reading of God’s Word.

M.I.P:

1 Peter 2:13-14 Peter is telling his readers to be subject to EVERY human institution whether it was the emperor or as we see in 14, the governor. During this time, Claudius and Nero were evil and wanted to kill as many Christians as possible.
