Revolutionary
Intro
Jesus the ultimate revolutionary
Do you ever think about the Savior as a teenager? Do you wonder what His eyes saw as He looked around at the circumstances around Him?
What made Jesus snap on the religious leaders of the time?
Was it the fact that they perverted the Word of God, the Words that He spoke through the ages, (perverted it) for their own gain?
Was it the fact that their eyes were only upon themselves and not upon the hurting, the poor, the lost?
So here comes Jesus, God Himself, but also just a man preaching truth with power and authority. Calling people to humility before God, repentance of sin, kindness to the poor…backing everything up with miracles and power.
He stood silent and unbending before a king who thought to mock him, yet spoke freely with prostitutes, touched and healed lepers, and extended mercy to the worst of the worst.
He spoke in defense of himself only when it furthered the Kingdom of God
He defied an emperor who thought he was god.
You are the revolutionaries that will make the difference in the church of tomorrow.
You are the future of what happens around here.
Historically change has started with young people getting a burden for Jesus and intimacy with Him
Whatever you can believe for, that is what you will see.
The most powerful miracles haven’t been performed yet.
The best songs have yet to be written.
The most influential ministries have yet to be birthed.
But what can I do now???
Two Teen Revolutionaries
Daniel-
He and his people had been taken from their land in captivity to serve a pagan king.
While he was in a place of bondage, he refused to be personally bound. He defied a king by staying true to God, was thrown into a lion’s den but was saved. He recognized the times according to the Scriptures and decided to lead a private revolution by fasting and praying.
Esther-
The enemy was plotting the downfall of her people. But through a desperation born of faith and need, she put her life on the line, and saved a nation.
Esther couldn’t do everything, but she could do something; and what she could do, she did. She approached the throne of the king and asked him to reverse the edict that Haman had devised. It was her interceding at the throne that saved the people of Israel from slaughter. She was asking nothing for herself, except that the king save her people and deliver her from the heavy burden on her heart.
Outward Focused
No one lives a revolutionary life focused on themselves. Someone consumed with their own pursuits, their own flaws, their own bubble, will never even notice the opportunity for revolution.
Must be conscious of 2 things: God and the needs of people.
You need to pursue Jesus with everything in you. You need to worship Him like a maniac, you need to pray and know His Word like Daniel.
Jesus needs to be the absolute center of your life!
You must be willing to be poured out and offer your life for others.
You cannot be guarded with your time, your emotions, your involvement.
You must have a compassion for those around you and be willing to do something about it. Whether it is your friends, your family, or the poor in the community or in the Philippines. You must be willing to be moved.
