I. Introduction

1 Timothy 3:14–16 ESV
14 I hope to come to you soon, but I am writing these things to you so that, 15 if I delay, you may know how one ought to behave in the household of God, which is the church of the living God, a pillar and buttress of the truth. 16 Great indeed, we confess, is the mystery of godliness: He was manifested in the flesh, vindicated by the Spirit, seen by angels, proclaimed among the nations, believed on in the world, taken up in glory.

II. Apostle Paul writes to Timothy about the principles of the church

A. Household of God
B. Church of the living God
C. Pillar and Buttress of the truth

III. The Great Mystery of godliness

A. Christ/God was manifested in the flesh (John 1:14; 1 Peter 1:20; Hebrews 2:14; 1 John 4:2-3; 2 John 7)
B. Christ was vindicated in the Spirit (Rom 1:3-4)
C. Christ Seen by angels (John 20:12; Acts 1:10; 1 Peter 3:22)
D. Christ Proclaimed among the nations (Acts)
E. Christ Believed on in the world (Acts)
F. Christ Taken up in glory. (Acts 1:9)
