The Armor of God
Intro
As we begin to talk about this area I wanted all of you to understand that as children of God, we are protected from the enemy (explain – children, and bad things still happen)
Psalm 91:7 (NKJV) "A thousand may fall at your side, And ten thousand at your right hand; But it shall not come near you."
If you know the promises of the Word, then you can stand upon them and claim them as your own.
Ephesians 6:10-20 (AMP) "In conclusion, be strong in the Lord [be empowered through your union with Him]; draw your strength from Him [that strength which His boundless might provides]. Put on God’s whole armor [the armor of a heavy-armored soldier which God supplies], that you may be able successfully to stand up against [all] the strategies and the deceits of the devil. For we are not wrestling with flesh and blood [contending only with physical opponents], but against the authorities, against the powers, against [the master spirits who are] the world rulers of this present darkness, against the spirit forces of wickedness in the supernatural sphere. Therefore put on God’s complete armor, that you may be able to resist and stand your ground on the evil day [of danger], and, having done all [the crisis demands], to stand [firmly in your place]. Stand therefore [hold your ground], having tightened the belt of truth around your loins and having put on the breastplate (or body armor) of right standing with God, And armor your feet in preparation [to face the enemy with the firm-footed stability, the promptness, and the readiness produced by the good news] of the Gospel of peace. Lift up over all the [covering] shield of saving faith, upon which you can quench all the flaming missiles of the wicked [one]. And take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God. Pray at all times (on every occasion, in every season) in the Spirit, with all [manner of] prayer and requests. To that end keep alert and watch with strong purpose and perseverance, interceding in behalf of all God’s people. And [pray] also for me, that [freedom of] utterance may be given me, that I may open my mouth to proclaim boldly the mystery of the good news (the Gospel), For which I am an ambassador in prison. Pray that I may declare it boldly and courageously, as I ought to do."
Belt of Truth and Helmet of Salvation
Belt
"Stand therefore having your loins girt about with truth."
--- Ephesians 6:14
"Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ." --- Isaiah 59:17
Does anyone know why we might need our loins protected by truth? (Sexual fantasies)
Helmet
"And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God."--- Ephesians 6:17
"For he put on righteousness as a breastplate, and an helmet of salvation upon his head." --- Isaiah 59:17
"But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for a helmet, the hope of salvation."

The helmet of salvation guards our minds, for the battle against the enemy is in the mind. The helmet of salvation also assures us of two things:
We will have eternal life in heaven.
We can be free.
2 Corinthians 10:5 (NKJV) “Casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ,"
Breastplate of Righteousness
"Stand therefore having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness."--- Ephesians 6:14

Shield of Faith
"Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked."--- Ephesians 6:16

Sometimes in battle when the enemy was in too close to get your sword into play, you could take your shield and give them a good bashing in the head and stun your enemy.
Sometimes when you are about to be overcome, and the Word is far from your mind, introduce the devil’s head to your shield and back him up off you.
1 John 5:4 (NKJV) "For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world— our faith."
Boots of the Gospel
"And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace."

"How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!" --- Romans 10:15
Prayer
"Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints."--- Ephesians 6:18
2 Corinthians 10:4 (NKJV) "For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds,”
Sword
"For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing assunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart." --- Hebrews 4:12
