*The Battle is The Lord’s*

*Intro*
Some might be intimidated or unsure of this whole area.
It may seem silly, or just plain scary.
As we continue to look at spiritual warfare tonight, I want you all to understand Who it is that is on our side, and what that means.
Last week we talked about the armor of God and what each thing signifies.
Tonight I want to focus on the first part of the scriptures we used last week in Ephesians:
*/Ephesians 6:10 “Be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.”/*
You are not expected to battle with simply your will power and weapons and armor that you may or may not fully understand.
Through everything in this life God chooses to partner with His kids.
He could accomplish anything and all things by Himself, but he chooses to work in and through us.
Even in the area of Spiritual Warfare.
Of course He could wipe out Satan and all his demonic forces with a flick of His pinky, but for right now he is serving God’s purposes.
In other words Satan is being punked by God.
God wants us to learn to choose Him.
We can’t choose Him if there is no choice.
After we choose Him God wants us to know Him intimately, so He calls us closer and deeper with Him.
He also wants His kids to have strength and be tough, and know how to fight for righteousness and justice, so He equips us and teaches us how to fight with His strength and His way

*His Strength *
Things work different in the Kingdom of God.
While in our culture we value the vigilante, the lone ranger, the Rambo who goes in and single handedly wipes out the entire army, God does things differently, and therefore His strength is found in different places.
We find strength for the fight in our community (Fellowship)

We find strength in our worship (talk about next week)

We find strength in the Name of the Lord.
*/Psalm 20:7 (NIV) "Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God."/*
*/Mark 16:17 (NIV) "And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues;"/*

*/Luke 10:17-20 (NIV) "The seventy-two returned with joy and said, “Lord, even the demons submit to us in your name.”
He replied, “I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven.
I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you.
However, do not rejoice that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven.”"/*
*His Way*

1 Samuel 17
David – stepping out in faith 1 John 5:4
*/1 Samuel 17:45-47 (NIV) "David said to the Philistine,(Goliath) “You come against me with sword and spear and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the Lord Almighty, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied.
This day the Lord will hand you over to me, and I’ll strike you down and cut off your head.
Today I will give the carcasses of the Philistine army to the birds of the air and the beasts of the earth, and the whole world will know that there is a God in Israel.
All those gathered here will know that it is not by sword or spear that the Lord saves; for the battle is the Lord’s, and he will give all of you into our hands.”"/*
When we step out in faith we don’t step out by ourselves…The army of God is behind us.
That’s when you have to be walking by faith and not by sight

Elijah and his servant’s eyes opened.
*/2 Kings 6:14-17 (NKJV) "Therefore he sent horses and chariots and a great army there, and they came by night and surrounded the city.
And when the servant of the man of God arose early and went out, there was an army, surrounding the city with horses and chariots.
And his servant said to him, “Alas, my master!
What shall we do?”
So he answered, “Do not fear, for those who are with us are more than those who are with them.”
And Elisha prayed, and said, “Lord, I pray, open his eyes that he may see.”
Then the Lord opened the eyes of the young man, and he saw.
And behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha."/*

*/2 Corinthians 2:14 (KJV) "Now thanks be to God, who always causes us to triumph in Christ…”/*

*Summary*
Remember God isn’t calling you out so that you can fall on your face and fail.
There will be some times when you fail, but get back up again…don’t be a wuss and give up.
*/Romans 8:31-32 (NIV) "What, then, shall we say in response to this?
If God is for us, who can be against us?
He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?"/*
*/Romans 8:37-39 (NIV) "No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.
For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord."/*
