Nehemiah 9
Moses struck the slave master and killed him thinking to take a step forward in his destiny as a Hebrew and a God-follower
David had a great plan to bring the ark of the covenant to Jerusalem and create a grand center of worship for the Lord. His expectations: gratitude, blessings. Instead he was disillusioned about Uzza’s death. God blessed Obed-Edom’s house, while David sat. Found restoration in doing things God’s way…
David ran into another snag later when he found out that he would not be the one to build the temple because he was a man that shed much blood…doing what God had led him to do. He would not build it, but rather his son. But in this no there was a greater yes…
Just because something is good does not mean God has to bless it.
We all have a script that we think our lives are going to proceed along… (examples) what happens when life drastically alters from our scripts?
Intro
It is a horrible thing to have faith and trust in the Lord for something and then it doesn’t come to pass.
Have you ever placed your faith in the Lord, prayed and quoted all the right Scriptures, Done all the right things and it still didn’t happen anyway?
Why didn’t God heal your Grandma of that cancer when you prayed so hard? Why didn’t your child get that healing that you desperately prayed and believed for?
What happens when our reality is not changed by prayer?
God is a God of surprises. He never moves like we think He should.
Points: He is God and we are not. We live in a world broken by sin, and things do not work like they should work…but they will! David’s discouragement.
