True repentance cries out to God for pardon. Have mercy on me.
But this isn’t all. WE need fogiveness and need to change.
The willful turning from sin and toward Christ in true sorrow and humility. Repentance is only possible through the work of the Holy Spirit, who gives us a greater affection for God than for sin, and as such it is closely related to the Spirit’s work of regeneration and the gift of faith. True repentance is more than remorse; it involves mortification and results in a change of mind, heart and action.

We can’t change without his help.
